how to back up PS3 saves?
how do yo backup your saves to USB drive or whatever? I'm starting to get paranoid that I could lose my saves if one of my fat PS3's died. I'd like to start backing up once a month to be safe.

You go to the icon for PS 3 saves, stick the USB in the same spot as your controller, hit triangle after you select a game save, and a copy option shows up
Of course, that's assuming you CAN copy the save. Some games (and this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine) don't let you

Same here, very irritating. There aren't many games like this though, only ones I can think of are Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Resident Evil 5 save files used to have copy-protection but the game was patched and they don't anymore. I think Killzone 2 has copy-protection but I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly or not.Gamerforlife wrote:Of course, that's assuming you CAN copy the save. In the case of those two games, I'm incredibly glad to see you can't back up the sames. Good on From Software for that.brunoafh wrote: Same here, very irritating. There aren't many games like this though, only ones I can think of are Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

A key aspect of the game is that you can't revert to an older save game. If you fuck up, it's permanent. Being able to transfer the game save would ruin that dynamic.irixith wrote:Why?sabrage wrote:In the case of those two games, I'm incredibly glad to see you can't back up the sames. That may make the game more challenging but what if your PS3 breaks/crashes to a non-repairable state? You backed up saves from all the other games... except for those you can't copy. All those hours you put in were for naught.sabrage wrote:A key aspect of the game is that you can't revert to an older save game. If you fuck up, it's permanent. Take out the hard drive, drop it in your new one. And yes, if your hard drive fails, you're screwed, but this is Demon's Souls we're talking about here.Opa Opa wrote:That may make the game more challenging but what if your PS3 breaks/crashes to a non-repairable state? besides copying one save at a time, I thought (hoped) there was an easier backup that just copies all your saves at once. No?Gamerforlife wrote:You go to the icon for PS 3 saves, stick the USB in the same spot as your controller, hit triangle after you select a game save, and a copy option shows up
