Final Fantasy II - Like an old comfortable sweatshirt
Re: Final Fantasy II - Like an old comfortable sweatshirt
^ That, and the PSP version has awesome boss remixes for the bonus dungeons from the GBA game.
Re: Final Fantasy II - Like an old comfortable sweatshirt
My Cecil is at level 61 right now. I wanted to do a little more leveling up anyway, but I thought I'd venture to the final boss just to see what's what. At least you get healed up fully so you don't have to worry about healing before you fight. That guy is no joke though. He completely wiped me out in like 3 turns.
Re: Final Fantasy II - Like an old comfortable sweatshirt
The hype didn't fail you.
Solo power level people if you can. I think my Cecil was at 70-80 or something when I fought him on the PSX version.

Solo power level? I've never heard of such a thing. I'm assuming that means KO all party members except one, then that remaining party member gets more experience points per battle?
edit: I read about having edge steal the Dark Matter item from Zeromus before you have Cecil use the crystal on him. But does the Dark Matter actually do anything? From what I've been reading, I don't think it does, but some sources claim it helps against his Big Bang attack.
edit: There must be a lot of hidden summons for Rydia, huh? A while back, before I first entered the Lunar Subterrane, I had a grenade or the alternate color version of them (whatever those things are called) drop a bomb, but it had the little summon icon next to it. It made Rydia learn the bomb summon, and it's by far my favorite summon (that I have anyway). It only costs 10MP to use, it can be cast with no wait, and it inflicts decent damage. I'm casting it multiple times in pretty much every battle now. It inflicts 2-3000 worth of damage to Evil Masks and Behemoths. I haven't looked yet, but I'm guessing there's probably a few "hidden" summons that enemies drop. Am I right?
I wonder if I just got lucky, getting the bomb pretty much as soon as I got to the moon for the first time. If it turns out it's actually a hard thing for the enemy to drop, I might be pissed if I ever play through this game again. I love this summon.
edit: Well I just looked it up, apparently I'm only missing the Imp, Mage and Cocatris summons, and they don't sound all that interesting.
edit: Ha, that's a lot of edits! I just fought that asshole Zeromus again. Cecil was at 67 or 68. I was kicking ass until Zeromus decided to cast Big Bang twice in a row and obliterated my party.
I think I would have been able to beat it this time if it weren't for that little bit of bad luck, but I'll probably grind up a couple more levels before I face him again.

I was actually able to beat him in my 40s. Does this mean I win?

It means you're absolutely amazing, and you get a star next to your username now.
What version of the game was that?

I'm afraid not, I've completed the game with an average party level of 25-30, with Cecil under level 10.GameMasterGuy wrote:I was actually able to beat him in my 40s. Does this mean I win?

GBA, and it was my first Final Fantasy, too. I think my team was Rydia, Cecil, Rosa, Palom, and Porum.
Re: Final Fantasy II - Like an old comfortable sweatshirt
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, Edge stole the Dark Matter on the first try. Don't know what that did, if anything.
Re: Final Fantasy II - Like an old comfortable sweatshirt
The Dark Matter serves no real purpose. The only exception to this is that you can use it in the DS FFIV to access a hidden boss. I'm not sure if they kept that in the PSP version or not.Ziggy587 wrote:Oh yeah, forgot to mention, Edge stole the Dark Matter on the first try. Don't know what that did, if anything.
