/\ this guy is correct. It is obviously not a Cave game.

Bullet Soul is one of the most bland shmups I have ever played. I was so excited to receive it and sold it the next day.

Played some Progear tonight, and actually knew what I was doing for the first time. Pretty darn fun game, and some really nice patterns from that stage 2 boss.

You'll eventually coast through the first couple stages, the first "vertical" stage is tough to adjust to because it's not truly vertical, sorta like stage 6 in Deathsmiles, but elevating up instead of down. CAVE is so far beyond the other developers its sick.

I'll get this back in the cab and get some scores going bro - I'd encourage others to join us, a beautiful game with challenging but not impossible bosses and as always, a wonderful scoring system.

Managed to find a copy of Deathsmiles the other day, so I've been having a bit of fun with that in between other games. I'm not all that great at bullet hell shooters, but it's been enjoyable. Also have a copy of Raiden IV waiting in the wings.

I actually really like the scoring in thi8s one. Its like a simplified, more intuitive version of Deathsmiles scoring system. I'll definitely be playing this one with you.

Its funny, the only dev I really considered on par with Cave would have been Raizing, but only really because of the Yagawa-developed games. Now that Cave has Yagawa as staff, there is really no competition. They really are masters of their craft, which only makes sense, considering how long they've been at it (Tiger Heli came out in 86, so over 25 years)

Ironic that Yagawa and Ikeda both worked for Toaplan, then split into Cave and Raizing (and Takumi and Gazelle), and then the main Raizing man (imo) joins back up with Cave. You can see what would become from both developers in Batsugun, a game with bees, pigs, huge cololrful shots, and completely counter-intuitive scoring. I love the fusion of their styles then, and now its even better.
