Aside from games like White Knight Chronicles (Ni No Kuni doesn't count), I seriously can't think of other rpgs right off the top of my head for this generation that are actually owned by Sony. I'm going to tell you that I love the Wild Arms games just as much as I do with....FFVIII (or 7). There's the highly underrated game, Legend of Dragoon, which should've gotten a sequel, prequel, or reboot by now. I think it should be Sony's best interest to use this time to actually reconsider the rpg genre again, especially when other JRPG kings are struggling to develop decent games. Maybe Sony can turn the tables around. Come on, Sony, do us a favor and show us what a true jrpg supposed to look like this generation.
**I honestly feel that Sony is concentrating too much on the shooting genre because most of their PS exclusives almost fall under that category. We got Uncharted, so do we really need another game like Star Hawk even though it does look interesting.
Here's a list of Sony RPGs:
Wild Arms (Red Dead Redemption meets rpg....need I explain?)
Legend of Dragoon (Title speaks for itself)
Legend of Legaia (deserves higher production value)
Arc the Lad (love to see some remakes)
Dark Cloud (Dark Cloud 3!!!!)
Rogue Galaxy (goosebumps....addiction.....)
Folklore (sooooo UNDERRATED.....)
Demon's Souls (I'm so scaaarry ready to die)
White Knight Chronicles (do you guys remember the first trailer?)
Okage (stick figure rpg FTW)
I actually love the Sony RPGs

Re: I actually love the Sony RPGs
Folklore was an interesting game, but I think it got too repetitive and the story got a bit convoluted. I never finished it, but I was happy that I put some time into it
I liked Legend of Dragoon. That whole transformation thing was very cool and I liked the focus on doing combos in combat with timed button presses. That really made combat more interesting. I have a figurine of Rose in my closet. I don't usually collect figures, but they did such a nice job on it and seeing as I liked the game
I remember playing Wild Arms when everyone was playing Final Fantasy 7. I had some friends make fun of me for playing "that game with the stupid graphics". I eventually did play FF 7 and loved it, but Wild Arms was quite good and I remember loving its intro
Would be nice to see Sony pump out more rpgs. The nice thing about Sony is that a lot of their games don't just follow the norm. They're good about publishing games with original ideas like Ico and Flower. I have always liked that about their software philosophy. I've never played Demon Souls or Dark Souls though. Everything I hear about those games sounds more masochistic than fun

Oh wow, I was about to slam a hammer or something here, but upon looking up most of these titles, it really does look like SCEI had a hand in them. I didn't realize they were part of Arc the Lad's development, etc. Lots of great titles there for sure. I'm still really excited to play Legend of Legaia sometime.
Legend of Dragoon seemed to be one of their biggest releases. I'm not the biggest fan, the timing on the combat got a little tiresome to me, but yeah that game was really hyped up and everywhere in magazines back then. It was definitely kind of SCIE's own Final Fantasy.

YES WE DO! I loved WarHawk and would love to see a successor to it set in space.JC48573 wrote:We got Uncharted, so do we really need another game like Star Hawk even though it does look interesting.
Back on topic: I think I might try Legend of Dragoon again after reading this thread.

Warhawk looks awesome. It's probably the closest to another MechAssault we'll ever get.

Uh... have you heard of Chromehounds or Armored Core V?sabrage wrote:Warhawk looks awesome. It's probably the closest to another MechAssault we'll ever get.

I thought it had some good ideas for it's time. You had a little indicator over your head that warned you when a random encounter was about to happen. Also, your character's attacks consisted of multiple blows, but you had to hit a button at the right time for each hit to connect properly. There were different attacks if I remember correctly, each consisting of a different combo sequence and there was an item in the game that would let one character do his combo automatically. Nice for that one character's whose combo was too hard to pull offGSZX1337 wrote:YES WE DO! Chromehounds was awful. Everything looked like it was coated in shit. I haven't played Armored Core, but the fact that it's a sim/customizer pretty much invalidates it from MechAssaults arcade goodness.brunoafh wrote:Uh... have you heard of Chromehounds or Armored Core V?sabrage wrote:Warhawk looks awesome. Really? Wild Arms had stupid graphics? Did your friends actually play FF7, with its Popeye arms?Gamerforlife wrote:I remember playing Wild Arms when everyone was playing Final Fantasy 7. I had some friends make fun of me for playing "that game with the stupid graphics".

Well, I guess back then people thought FF 7 looked amazing. My friends back then never played anything that didn't have really awesome graphics, though to be fair a lot of those games were actually good games. They discovered Comix Zone before I did because of its cool visual style
