:D Just what I'm saying, dude...consoles should be appreciated based on what they are, and nothing should ever receive extra attention because of its death.

And are you calling my Jag with its massively awesome independent interchangeable controller number panel overlays shit?!
In comparison to the DC, yeah, sorry to say so but, IMO, the Jag can't compare to the DC in terms of, well, really anything. And really all I base my opinions on are if the games are fun - technology doesn't count (especially since the DC is way more advanced than the Jag just due to when it came out). :) Hell, I have NES games that I think are better than current gen games.

It's true, consoles should be appreciated for what they are (the games) and not for a premature death or not. I mean if we did appreciate consoles or handhelds for how quick of a "death" they had, Game.com, Gizmondo, and the Lynx would be some of the best of all time.

Cool man, sorry to the original poster for taking over the thread. I was just trying to make a point using the Jaguar since it and the DC share one thing in common...the end of a console maker. Don't mistake me for a Jag-lover, it has been in a box for many years while the DC is greater than all consoles put together AND 20 free pizzas.

So what was this about again? Ah yes, there are silver, black, cream, blue, pink, clear, gold...just look at the list.

Doctor Fugue wrote:To answer the topic question, there are at least 23, including all official and limited releases, but not counting any special one-off custom jobs, and also not including all the different packaging and different boxes.

Edit: Okay, I thought I would stop being lazy and actually list them, or some might think I'm just pulling numbers out of my butt.

Dreamcasts:
Code Veronica Claire
Code Veronica STARS
Crystal Seaman (clear)
Divers 2000 (it's a console+TV contraption, crazy)
European Standard
Gold (last production model)
Hello Kitty Blue
Hello Kittly Pink
Japanese Standard
Sega Direct Black
Sega Direct Pearl Pink
Sega Direct Pearl Blue
Sega Direct Silver (my favourite)
Mazora (or Maziora; very expensive due to the paint job)
Partner Dreamcast (specially-made for certain people, but still counts I suppose)
Regulation 7
Sakura Wars
Sonic
Sonic (Employee issue, signed)
Swatch
Tsutaya
US Black Sports
US Standard
Xmas Seaman

So, 24 here, but you may consider the Partner and Swatch DCs as custom DCs...I don't know if they were actually available for sale.
You did miss one, the Christmas edition Seaman Dreamcast http://www.shinforce.com/dreamcast/DC-S ... as1999.jpg only 850 of those.

Yeah, normally I can't stand it when someone calls Christmas "Xmas"...but I'm a big Futurama fan.
Please let me know if I missed any others!

Great site for console color lists. I really dig that Jet Set Radio one. I'm assuming it's an official DC, anyone know?

Ahhh...I've never seen that one before! Kudos to you.

It is difficult to say which are official and which are not. It was probably made by SEGA but did it come with a matching controller and special box? Somehow I feel they need to have the complete package to be a real special edition. I didn't list the Gundam or Toyota ones because I felt they were too specialized and not really sold as a DC, but as part of promotions...but then I guess others on the list fall under that rule as well.

There is also the recent RedSpotGames one, which several were made and sold or won as part of a promotion for Last Hope:

(scroll down a bit, it is pretty nice; too bad the game is ass)

There was a Chuchu Rocket Dreamcast like that Jet Grind Radio one in Europe, can't find the link to it anymore though.
