Hi. New to the forum but ive been checking out racketboys site for years now. So this is how the story goes. I decided to let a friend of mine borrow my dreamcast in exchange for his n64 so I could get my Zelda on. Apparently while he had it his brother that was living with him at the time left it on for 3 solid days with sonic adventure spinning the whole time.....
So ever since I got it back its had some issues. The biggest of which is nester the nes emulator no longer runs at full speed. since its not at fullspeed it causes the audio to sound garbled and skippy. Ive reburned it several times and tried older versions that were sitting around and they all mess up. Other issues include longer load times in alot of games most notably Phantasy Star Online where they are almost double of what they were.(and they werent short to begin with....)
So what do you think? Ive already blown it out with air and used lens cleaners and such and nothing works.
dreamcast issues.....
Wow -- that's bizarre.
Does it sound any different? like maybe the fan isn't working quite as well?

Wow nice response with the quickness lol. I just booted it up and it sounds like a good ole nostalgic boot with all the classic sounds and I can feel the side fan blowing away. When PSO goes on its loading frenzy it makes alot of weird sounds but they are all the lens moving around like crazy. The thing that gets me though is since nester loads the rom into the ram theres no way that the lense would have anything to do with those problems......
Exactly. That's why I was wondering if overheating was an issue...miked wrote:Wow nice response with the quickness lol. Nah I dont really hold my friend accountable for it since his bro left it on. He actually had everything nice and neat and it was behind closed doors in his entertainment center which is why he didnt notice it was on the whole time. Where is this pot though? I was gonna take it apart anyway just too look around for boredoms sake.......
