I don't care if one person, gender, race, etc etc etc is accused of being treated better or worse than another. Flipping the card doesn't make the situation ok.
This
I take this thread and potential discussion it would generate to be satire/parody of a practice men engage in. Is satire/parody of sexism still sexism?

Honestly I struggled with the "sexiest" tag. I put it there because I thought the results had to be limited somehow. I felt that if the criterion was simply "best male video game characters," the entire list would fill up instantaneously with obvious choices like Mario and Sonic and Mega Man, since there are so many male video game characters who are beloved and in the spotlight. An aspect of what made JC's thread so great is that the pool of female video game characters is smaller in comparison, so you have to do more thinking and searching to discover them before you cap out at 100.

I also thought it might be interesting simply to see what characters women gamers tend to admire/have crushes on, for one thing because it doesn't get talked about as much. "Sexiest" doesn't always mean "most objectified" or "most physically attractive." I mean, I have this ridiculous crush on Garrus. He's awesome, but really. What's up with that?!

Maybe I was wrong to assume that a general "best male video game characters" list would be predictable and left off the adjective. Maybe I should have said "coolest" or "unusual." In any case, I do honestly apologize if I offended anybody.

But if this thread is going to die, I want to go out nominating Rick the Adventure Sphere from Portal 2. Because he thinks he's sexy, and it's hilarious.
Honestly, with me you're fine. I'm not offended to think a girl might find me attractive, it is part of our nature. Just the general idea, of how sexist men are for possibly even considering thinking of things in terms of sexuality gets instantly bashed; but Women can do it full out and it is usually ok. It is a double standard, and those annoy me to death.

I do think you would have been surprised though if you would of left off Sexiest. Sure there would have been a few obvious ones (there were some obvious ones in the Female thread), but we are all pretty creative/out of the box thinkers here.

Kind of like how men can be assholes and it's ok but the moment a woman stands up for herself because she's pissed off about something, that makes her a "bitch"?

I do think you're right. That's something I really love about this forum.

It is only a double standard if you are comparing equals, which isn't the case for gender in gamer culture. And, agan, I don't really see any sexism here, just a potential parody of sexist behaviors found in threads like that Video Game Girls/NSFW thread we have...

Haha yeah actually that is one. I've never got that one myself, especially when the guy is a complete ass but he is calling the girl a bitch for the littlest thing. "Yeah dude, because you're a ray of sunshine."

In the interest of staying on topic...

Jann Lee

He's Bruce Lee with a better hairstyle. You can't go wrong.

Also, as a straight, happily married man, I must say look at those abs! Damn!

In conclusion: "WAATAAAH!"

This topic doesn't need to become an argument people. Please have some fun.

Damn it, we need to get more names on here, so I'm nominating Solid Snake.

He is the quintessential tough guy, and against all odds, he gets it done.

Plus, he's got a face that looks like it was carved from granite.
