I do enjoy how we basically got a lecture in the Video Game Girls thread but this one has it covered of why it is ok.

I know this is all in good fun, but I do eventually get tired of being called sexist for even thinking of anything related to the female form. But when we get something from the female looking at men perspective it is usually just brushed off with some laughs.

I mean the other thread just asked to name the top female characters; this has asked for only girls to name the sexiest male characters. Not only are men told not to participate but they are the ones being objectified.

Like I said I know this is all in fun and I don't think this should be turned into a massive argument, but I felt like pointing that crap out.

Welllllll, I'm assuming this thread is meant to be on behalf of female gamer's like JC suggested.

And considering the things you had to say about the top 100 female characters thread (Which wasn't based on their looks alone) I'm a little surprised you're OK with this objectification of men.

the current power differential in gaming culture makes me less upset by a thread like this. If any men read it and feel objectified, maybe they'll reconsider the acceptance of those practices which do the same to women.

Men and women are not treated as equals in gamer culture, and I see a thread like this as a challenge to male privelege, which I'm all for.

This is getting pointed out a lot and it's true. JC48573's "100 Greatest Female Characters" thread had a classy premise and generated a classy list. I loved that he created it, and I wasn't intending to take away from or mock his success. It was awesome.

Honestly I struggled with the "sexiest" tag. I put it there because I thought the results had to be limited somehow. I felt that if the criterion was simply "best male video game characters," the entire list would fill up instantaneously with obvious choices like Mario and Sonic and Mega Man, since there are so many male video game characters who are beloved and in the spotlight. An aspect of what made JC's thread so great is that the pool of female video game characters is smaller in comparison, so you have to do more thinking and searching to discover them before you cap out at 100.

I also thought it might be interesting simply to see what characters women gamers tend to admire/have crushes on, for one thing because it doesn't get talked about as much. "Sexiest" doesn't always mean "most objectified" or "most physically attractive." I mean, I have this ridiculous crush on Garrus. He's awesome, but really. What's up with that?!

Maybe I was wrong to assume that a general "best male video game characters" list would be predictable and should have left off the extra adjective. Maybe I should have said "coolest" or "most unusual" instead. In any case, I do honestly apologize if I offended anybody.

But if this thread is going to die, I want to go out nominating Rick the Adventure Sphere from Portal 2. Because he thinks he's sexy, and it's hilarious.

EDIT: Also, Luke is currently my favorite honorary girl.
