Like Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, the game looks great and everything, but you could practically just sit back and watch the game happen, and Sonic R is the same way, they're just too fast and there's no substance. Of course that is just my opinion, but I just wanted to put that out there. I've had bottled up feelings about it for a while. haha
I agree mainly by the likes of Sonic 2 but I have to disagree with Sonic 1, 3&K, and CD. Mostly Sonic 1 and CD. Sonic 1 is pretty difficult with all of it's hazards and platforming elements. It plays much more slowly. Sonic CD can be beaten by "hold right" but not if you want to really beat the game (travel in the past, destroy the robot generators and Metal Sonic holograms, time stones). I can't get into the SA games so I can't really say anything about those.
What a maneuver!

Well there's your problem. (It's also a problem with most of Sonic 2). However, Sonic 1, CD, and 3&K (as have been mentioned) are freaking amazing platformers with a good balance of speed and actual platforming.

Yeah it's just those two that I mentioned that were the worst for me. I haven't played Sonic CD but I have played the ones on the Genesis, I didn't have a problem with them in that sense but still couldn't really get into them.
My favorite is definitely Sonic 2 for the Game Gear/SMS, probably because it's the only one I've ever actually played and tried/wanted to finish.

I could never get into a Sonic game either, they are just too fast and i feel like im missing parts of the stage.

Also i played Sonic 2 Adventure Battle on GCN and never finished it due to having to have a certain amount of medals? in order to progress.

That's because the stages all have multiple paths and are all designed to be played over and over.

Also don't use post-genesis Sonic games to try and discredit the franchise please. If you're gonna play Sonic, stick to the Genesis games.

I didn't know that was a rule. From now on I'll only talk about Sonic games that I don't like post-genesis.

Sorry, I know that wasn't even in response to what I said, but the games I mentioned were "post-genesis", but we were only stating our opinions.

I'm just saying, if someone's praising Sonic, they aren't talking about the post-Genesis games.

I beat it once. You're going to hate going through those maze-like tunnels in Scrambled Egg Zone. Took me a while to beat them but I did. It's a total pain in the ass. I think it was in act 2.

Pretty much. The only best Sonic game that works very very well in 3D is Sonic Robo Blast 2 and that's fan-made.
What a maneuver!

Pretty much.
I just realized I messed up that post. It was supposed to say something along the lines of:

"My favorite is definitely Sonic 2 for the Game Gear/SMS, probably because it's the only first one I've ever actually played and tried/wanted to finish"

But anyway, I remember Scrambled Egg Zone, if I remember correctly I got to Act 2 and that was when I officially gave up on that game. haha
