Question about my new DS...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

for flash carts get a supercard lite with pass me (or any slot 1 with a ez 3 in 1) if you wanna play gba games, if you don't wanna just get anything really.
I just saw a video of a guy using (apparently) just the Cyclo DS to boot a GBA game. I'll try it myself later today, but of course he may have had a ez 3 in 1 in slot 2 that I didn't notice. I'm very surprised. Here is the vid below, maybe you guys can spot something fishy I didn't. Common knowledge is that you can't do that...

Still, I don't know how you would boot it if it was with a ez 3 in 1, but I really think it wouldn't be through the Cyclo DS leftmost menu (it should be, I think, in the rightmost "Options" menu, where it has "boot from slot 2").

Go to ...

It's the best place for NDS flashcart reviews and general chat. They have an 'essential DS games' part in the forum. Highly recommended.

Watching the above video on Youtube, the poster notes that he is using a 3-in-1 Expansion pack.

You could, in fact, buy a 'Passme' cartridge that would allow you to run DS homebrew from your existing Supercard device, but for just a few dollars more than that would cost you, you can buy one of the more inexpensive Slot-1 DS Flash Carts, which would be easier to use, more compatible, and maintain your DS Lite's nice, slim profile better :)

I currently own a Datel Max Media Dock, which is commonly regarded as being among the worst DS homebrew devices. It actually works really well, but it's big, bulky and cumbersome, so I've been shopping around for a sleeker slot-1 device. In the research that I've done lately, the Supercard One and the CycloDS Evolution seem to be regarded as the best that money can buy. But I've got my eye on the DSTT, a newer device that is gaining in popularity for being nearly as fully-featured as a CycloDS but at a much lower price. As it's a newer cart, its quality is somewhat unproven, but everyone I've talked to seems to be very happy with it.

Please let us all know what you decide to go with, and keep us posted on what you think about your purchase when it arrives!

Thanks, I didn't see it on youtube. Still, I though that with a 3 in 1 you would pass the file onto the 3 in 1 "permanent memory" and play it from there... I wasn't aware you would somehow be able to play it off the Slot 1 cart (or is that not at all what is going on?).

Hip hip~ Me too. :D It's great! But I need a 3-in-1 cart for some GBA action... Perhaps.
