Yeah, I don't buy a game to have it collect dust on a shelf. You only live once; enjoy the games you have.

And I don't really have a problem with VGA, to each his own, but when I see people trying to sell them on ebay it kinda gets on my nerves. When a listing says "Parasite Eve VGA Brand NEW SEALED" for $500... Screw that. In no way does that accurately reflect a realistic price when you can buy the game used for about $15-20 OR $6 on PSN. But I don't see VGA games popping up too often (but I don't usually search for brand new copies of old games). Hopefully it will just stay out of the market and just be a service for collectors of sealed games.

I like looking at games in mint condition - particularly games that came in cardboard boxes, most of which I have never seen before.

I personally wouldn't pay for a VGA game, but I do appreciate looking at them.

Am I the only one who thought this would be about DOS gaming?

Hat in the ring to say play the game. If you have a sealed spare, okay I guess. I don't value sealed games as worth much for these reasons.

1. Is it really a factory seal, a chance the rare game or manual may not be inside.
2. A sealed rare game might be defective, years later harder to get a replacement.

I actually thought it was about playing games in VGA originally, like when you get the video converter of the Dreamcast

I thought the same thing until I saw the thread was posted in Nintendo.

But instead it is about overpaying for games to be kept in a silly plastic box and never played and enjoyed.

again, not bashing -- just my opinion, but yeah I'm all for displaying my collection. And indeed, I've gotten very into CIB collecting (to the point where the 5 or so games I own that are missing manuals cruelly mock me every time I walk by the shelf), but I've never had the urge to collect sealed games. I'm definitely in the camp that believes my games should be played (and likewise, the manual is meant to be read, etc.

For some collectors the simple pleasure of owning something nice is enjoyment enough

OK, that's a good example of what I don't get. Working Design is perhaps best known for the care they put into their packaging, and all the extra goodies (ironically called "feelies") that are packed within. Collecting them sealed means that you don't get to feel or even look at all that awesome stuff.

Again, not bashing. I'm just curious, doesn't that aspect ever bother you?
