I will now be on the lookout for FF Chronicles. Never knew it was rated so highly. And Xeogred: yeah, SFC = hardtype, SNES = easytype.

You might be able to find a disc only copy of 4 for cheap by itself if you look around. That's what I have (I keep it in the the Final Fantasy Anthologies case along with the psx ports of FF5 and 6)

No that was just Square USA doing a shoddy job of translating, they were kinda bad about that during the early years of the company and even had a few bad lines sneak into FF7.

Oh man FF7 is full of text errors.

Jenova's only line in the entire game has the word "beacause" for example, spelled exactly like that.

The original Japanese Super Famicom version is my favorite to be honest. I own so many versions of this game: SNES, PSX, GBA, DS, PSP. I'd like to get the aforementioned Super Famicom cart and WonderSwan Color port (which the PSX port is based off of) eventually.

Wait... we're talking about Final Fantasy IV, correct?

I sadly was never able to find the SNES Final Fantasy II back then (and instead played Mystic Quest  ), so my first experience with FFIV was on GBA. I *liked* it then, but actually didn't really get all that sucked into the game until just last year when the PSP version was released with the inclusion of After Years. As much as I think it's one of the best FF games out there, I am embarrassed to admit I've never actually finished the game (but then again, I could say that about many of the FF games. I tend to enjoy playing them for a while, but never getting around to beating them.)

You're not missing too much. It's a broken game. The best strategy for leveling up is to attack your own characters. It was an interesting experiment though.

Actually, that is just the quickest way to increase HP. I have read posts from people who are experts at the game that suggest this is actually a bad strategy and it just makes the game more difficult. I believe it is because your evade goes down as your HP goes up, and it is better to have a high evade. I don't recall the details.

Ah, my nemesis, FF4.

A couple years back I started to play my FF2 SNES cart. I got up to the part where you go underground (right?) and the cart dropped my save. So I actually started playing from the beginning again, only the PS1 version (didn't want to lose my save again). I got up to where I was, and a little further, then stopped playing. I just kinda lost interest, I guess because at that point I kinda played a full length game worth of time. Still, I'll have to start from the beginning and beat it one of these days. I just don't like to start up an RPG unless I'm certain I will finish it.

I found it odd that the PlayStation's FMV at the start has so many spoilers. The twins, Cid… it's pretty funny. Speaking of the twins, what an awesome moment. I'm sure several of my play-throughs in the past were for two reasons: the scene with the twins, and the music on the moon.
