Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe - Wii U
Guys, I'm just going to ask. Do you think that it would be a safe investment to buy a Wii U on launch? Or would you think it is not worth it?

Nintendo has always been consistent with the quality of their hardware and games imo; I'd say it is a safe investment purchasing a Wii U at launch. Well, at least I'm still planning to purchase a Wii U considering how much I enjoyed the Wii.

It's almost a gurantee that Nintendo systems won't have massive overhauls halfway through the generation. So I'd say buying a launch system isn't a bad idea.

Probably not. But there was the top-loader NES's and model 2 SNES's. So it's not like it's impossible either.Pichu wrote:It's almost a gurantee that Nintendo systems won't have massive overhauls halfway through the generation. So I'd say buying a launch system isn't a bad idea.

I figured it'd be pretty safe. I've always been careful with my money, but I've been antsy lately because college is only two years off, and at some point I'm going to have to buy a house. But, Nintendo has always been good to me, and I love them.

That is true as well. And I guess the non-BC Wii's could count too, but those are more P'sOS then anything.BurningDoom wrote:Probably not. But there was the top-loader NES's and model 2 SNES's. Is anything worth it at launch?Forlorn Drifter wrote:Guys, I'm just going to ask. Do you think that it would be a safe investment to buy a Wii U on launch? Or would you think it is not worth it?
It's not using anything "cutting edge" or "highly experimental" (it's a cross between the Wii and an iPad), it's backed well (Nintendo still has some cash and pull), and then there's the promised backwards compatibility.
Honestly, I expect first-wave games to either remain "waggle-friendly" or be "slate-heavy", but not combine the two very well. If EA signs on, maybe they'll let players draw up a trick play on the slate and then switch to controller when it comes time to take over the QB.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.

I'd wait at least 2 years if I were you. I'm really getting a hunch that it will get Gamecube sales, unless nintendo comes up with some amazing original software, like Wii Sports.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Guys, I'm just going to ask. Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe - Wii U
..and launch prices suck. there's always enough retro or last-gen gaming to last a year or two until prices start to go down. why spend 300 if you could spend 200? >insert rant about the economy< I still haven't gotten myself a 360 or PS3 or a DS or a 3DS, too expensive. keep them dollars in yuh pocketsZeroAX wrote:I'd wait at least 2 years if I were you.
