You didn't mention which platform you are trying to use.

My Target just put out their shipment today. Picked up Whirlwind and a Stealth Elf 3-Pack. Figures were going quickly and I don't expect there to be much left by Monday. I got fortunate I got there just as the employee was putting them out.

Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure - a surprisingly great gam
I can't afford to buy it new, I'm a broke-ass college student, and it looked like a fun game. I got it off CraigsList, and I didn't have a chance to test it, but it was sealed anyways, so I figured it wouldn't be much of an issue. It's for the Wii by the way, forgot to mention that. Everything is in absolutely pristine condition - it just doesn't work. At least if there was some obvious problem with it, I could attempt a fix, but there isn't any issue that I can see. And like I said, after a couple hours searching through google, it looks like I'm far from the only one having trouble with the portal. I'm determined to get this sorted out though, as I really want to play this damn game! The stupid online game isn't cutting it!mjmjr25 wrote:^just buy it new, not off of craig's list. Did you test the portal at the owners house, do you have the right USB - I mean hard to have sympathy if you bought it used and didn't test it?

You do have the little USB adapter, right? I initially assumed this game used the native bluetooth.
You read and followed the portal instructions of how to sync the adapter with the portal?

Yeah I've got the little USB adapter (which is baffling by the way, why is it this shoddy wireless crap, when the 360 and PC get a cable? Doesn't make any sense), and I've done all the troubleshooting, several times. Unless there's something bizarre that I'm missing in the process, it very much seems to be a dud. It's a real shame that weak hardware can derail such a cool idea for a game. I sure hope I can get something figured out, otherwise it'll just continue to sit on my shelf mocking me!Zing wrote:You do have the little USB adapter, right? idk man, my all my sisters got the wii version for their kids, I did as well and i've got a few buds who have the wii version - no issues w/the portal. I much prefer the portability of it being wireless. Put the one that wont' sync on ebay and list it accordingly (take a pic of the portal glowing and have the usb adapter in the pic too) then buy a working portal off ebay, my guess is you'll come out even, minus shipping.
Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure - a surprisingly great gam
I have a question about gameplay in this game. When a character dies, does he respawn like in Lego or do you restart the level? Asking for my wife, she isnt hardcore and likes how lego respawns.

Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure - a surprisingly great gam
Any character that is knocked out is simply unavailable for the rest of the level. You are free to immediately swap in any other figure you have. Sometimes I will swap figures when my character gets low on health so he isn't knocked out, and I can swap him back in to heal up when I find some food.
Characters that are knocked out are only out for that particular level. When the level ends, either because you completed it or exited the level (willingly or unwillingly), all of your characters are healed to full.

I should add for those who are still on the fence about the game.
There is an 360 degree - arena battle mode and the more characters you purchase, the funner this mini-game is.
Also, in regard to the add-on environments. My kids just got the ice-world add-on and basically for $20 you are getting a new game (or at least an extension of the main game, very fun), an additional character, and 2 additional pieces (this one came w/an attack and a defense).
