Should I buy a top loader nes?

Post by mas »

Hi everyone,
I just got my genesis 3 model for only ten dollars and now I want to get a top loader nes. I have my front loader and it works great. I clean my games and my system almost every other week. I never have any blinking screens and I have av cords.
Now I have watched videos of the top loader with the vertical lines and since my front loader works great, is it worth the 80.00 or so to pick one up?
I am getting a dog bone controller after I pick up a turbografx controller(If anyone can sell me one please let me know) which will be soon. I just thought I would just ask the question.
I did want to get all the smaller versions of my 8 and 16 bit consoles but I really am thinking about if I want to spend the extra money for the same system. Plus I heard the top loader nes and snes ver 2 is inferior to the original version's. Is that true? Please let me know. Thanks everyone

if you want to save space get a retron 3. i can possibly get you a good price on a top loader, just the console.

the top loader is worse bc of the jailbars and rf. the snes jr is worse bc they took out s-video.

Well by that logic, your Genesis model 3 is inferior to the model 2 & 1. Honestly, if the frontloader works fine without a hitch, there is no need to buy the toploader.

If the top loader had composite out and no jailbars, it would be a no-brainer. But as it is, I'm not sure why anyone would prefer it.

It has no region locking, its a dream system for NES importers.

:?: What?

Famicom carts don't fit into any NES model. You need a converter no matter what.

Or do you mean PAL games work fine on an NTSC-US top loader NES? The lock-out chip is super easy to disable on the original NES. I don't see not having it makes the top-loader a "dream system" when it still has those other problems.

It's OK for now if your front loader clearly positively works showing no signs of needing maintenance in the near future.

I more recommend top loader for new users. The immense annoyance of a front loader that DOES have difficulty reading games, cannot be understated. Negative reputation about affected units is as well deserved as it sounds.
