Most expensive piece of clothing you ever bought

^ I splurged on a pair of Docs in think I think '04/'05? The hype concerning durability is legit. Blemishes on the leather seem to just meld into the overall tone of the boots. I gave my left boot a significant scrape against a curb (by accident) and amazingly that gouge, while not gone, sort of just blended in after time. Docs are darn hardy.

I have a 650 dollar Calvin Klein suit and thats by far the most expensive thing I've bought in terms of clothing. I have a 400 dollar snowboarding jacket but other than that I try to not spend more than 30-40 bucks on a shirt and around 50 bucks for a pair of pants.

You may want to consider buying a pair of docs Hobie. Of course I have some attachment to my pair, seeing as old as they are, but to be honest thy still look brand new. I guess the best way to put it is that they're like a broken in baseball glove (I'm awful with analogies) in the way that it really becomes yours.

I really don't need any more boots though.

These are in the order I got them.

First are my 'crap' pair that I traded for in high school. The guy I got them from had spent a summer painting shrimp boats down at the docks, so there is marine paint splattered all over them that will never come off. The soles have been repaired at least 3 times and there are tears in the sewing and scuff all over but they're still holding together. These are great if I'm doing something dirty or likely to cause more scuffs. I think they are vintage 70s or older, but I'm not sure. There are no markings that I can find and I've never found any pictures of ones exactly like them. Some are similar, but this pair doesn't have the holes along the sewing of the toe cap.

Second are a pair of German Paratrooper boots I bought in 1991. I believe they are mid to late 80s vintage. I tend to wear these the most.

Third are my father's late 60s Bata combat boots. He'd had them at work and brought them home and gave them to me. These have super shiny toe and heel caps, though they are a bit cracked.



Fourth pair are Heereseigentum combat boots. They have 1994 on the sole and 1993 on the tongue label. Got them in 2005 I think. And yes I know I need to polish these badly.

Last pair are some insulated Rocky boots that I got in 2007.



All were obtained used and already broken in.

I bought a pair of Docs a while back. They lasted a year, which is a really long time for me! Somehow I destroy shoes just by walking around and stuff. My record was the front of the shoe splitting open and falling apart in 1 month. Last pair of Vans I ever bought. I remember them being good when I was a kid, but their quality really went downhill.

Not planning on buying another pair of Docs though. Didn't last quite as long as I was hoping for the price. Good quality though.

I had no idea. I just threw them out when I was cleaning my bedroom last week after keep them for no reason for like 5 months! They're probably still out back in the garbage but.... I don't think it was one of their "for life" products anyways.
