Those dudes are dbag hackers on a power trip that cause grief for many people, including us.

It is unfortunate that the legit users of Megaupload are no longer going to be able to use their services. However, if they didnt keep better tabs on piracy going through their service, what can you expect? I dont care much for the recording industries, but it also really hurts the artist and creators of the work. It is easy to sit back and see only how it effects you, but not the bigger picture. I am not an artist, but if I was I could see the frustrations that would arise from getting my work stolen or pirated...

Seriously. Anonymous gives the rest of the internet a bad name in the same way PETA gives animal lovers a bad name. What is being attempted by the government is wrong, but it's groups like anonymous that's causing the government to react in such a way. And anonymous "striking back" at the government, is just fanning the flames.

Not at all, you just don't go overboard. You show your support against SOPA and PIPA like plenty of people are doing nationwide instead of launching more attacks that's likely to just piss off the government more and make them determined.

This. Anonymous's attacks are essentially nothing more than temper tantrums. Do you really think the government or big corporations are scared of them? Do you honestly think DDoSing the Justice Department website is going to do ANY good in ANY way whatsoever?

Anyhow, Megaupload was far from the only uploading site, I'm sure most people who host legitimate files there will probably find somewhere else. I do imagine that after this, the other major upload sites are going to start seriously cracking down on illegitimate content.

Anonymous is only effective when they do not act like judge, jury, and executioner. Anonymous' biggest barrier to public support is that they often act as heavy handed and arbitrarily as those entities they profess to oppose.

not necessarily. There are better avenues to get your point across and to get your voice out. They are basically the equivalent to internet terrorists. They try to use scare tactics and the threat to cause anarchy or damage upon those who displease them, innocent bystanders be damned.
