I feel as if i start talk about something i like, it ends up being bashed, so why bother.

I definitely have/had friends who once liked what they liked, then start liking only what others liked to fit in, NOTHING is sacred, so be prepared to defend what you like or give up and join the rest.

Everyone who is claiming that hipsters don't exist have obviously never met one in the flesh.

I think they are trying to say that stereotypes are dumb and we shouldnt label people based on what they wear or like.

But that's what society breeds on.

Even without a specific label of hipster, the ones that do fit the established stereotype would still be 'smug persons who mock others for liking things that are too popular and abandon their liked trends and items when such items gain too much favor in the larger public's eye'.

These are the ones I refer to as hipsters, and I know they're real because I started noticing them before I ever knew what they are called.

The EXACT definition of the guy that works at my favorite independent hip hop store. Add a mustache and that's my definition of what a hipster is.

Hobie-wan wrote:My objection to hipsters is the actual ones that are smug about liking indie stuff. Hell, I like lots of non mainstream music, but I'm happy to introduce others to it. If you like indie things, but only until everyone else does and are smug about it, that is a hipster to me.
