So, as some may be aware, I've been doing a ton of psychiatric training to prove to the FAA/DoT that I'm not crazy and won't fly planes into control towers and Burger Kings. So on top of the $1000 dollars or so I already have to spend, the lady that gave me an evaluation yesterday left me a cheery voicemail. Basically, dispite the fact she said it would be $300 flat for the evaluation, she now wants to charge me another $300 for the time taken to "read the email, the time we went over (5 minutes at most) and to write the evaluation."
This isn't the part that makes me fume though, the problem I REALLY have with this is:
A. She said it would be $300 flat for the session and associated paperwork.
B. She was stuttering the whole way through the voicemail, sounding obviously nervous.
C. She said she won't release the records I authorized for release.
D. In the voicemail, she said she tried to run my card this morning.
I didn't give her consent to run the card, and she certainly didn't make me aware it would cost extra for the paperwork she had to do. I feel like there's something fishy here.
Normally I'd chew her out, but that's really not the best option right now since my future career is on the line and it would be extremely counter productive. I really can't budget for this, and I have no clue what to do.
I need some advice

She is the boss.dsheinem wrote: does she have a boss?
Anyways, I've decided I have to cough up the money, I can't risk anything getting in the way of my FAA medical. However, once I have it, (and they can't just take it away) I'm going to do everything in my power to ruin that bitch.
I've already backed up the voicemail, written out a report for the BBB, and a few other things.

Best option I'd say. Once you get all your paperwork and everything is final I'd let them know this as well.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: I've already backed up the voicemail, written out a report for the BBB, and a few other things.

I'm a bit surprised that you would have to pay fees in order to get a job.

Any job where you need certifications is going to cost ya. Even for a private license, the FAA doesn't screw around one bit, so I can't imagine all the hoops you'd need to jump through to get a commercial license.gtmtnbiker wrote:I'm a bit surprised that you would have to pay fees in order to get a job.
I'm guessing Ryan also has to be qualified for both VFR and IFR licenses. Lots of man hours goes into that as well.
Sorry to hear about your situation Ryan. It's a catch 22 as the best option may be to contact someone from FAA, but that option sounds like it may make your certs null and void. If the trainer is an independent business the BBB isn't going to be of much help. You're doing everything you can as of now, and keep keeping records of all your conversations and transactions. I really hope you find a way to recoup your money, but the crux of your situation lies in the original contract. If you have that and it states $300 flat, your gold ponyboy. If not chalk it up as a learning experience to get everything in writing.
Re: I need some advice
Do you have that in writing? Otherwise, unless you have her voice recorded saying that, you are going to have a very difficult time to "ruin the bitch." You could try public slander, but that could severely backfire.Basically, dispite the fact she said it would be $300 flat for the evaluation...

Well I'm much less angry today, and after having slept on it, I know it'll be impossible for any sort of legal action to be taken, and it may even be difficult to take some action with the BBB (I'm looking into that). However, I will definitely let her know of my dissatisfaction, and let all the other doctors in the area know about this as well.
I think the only thing more expensive than flight lessons are doctors.
