Yeah. I wouldn't mind spending the extra on some real leather boots if I could actually find a pair I likedForlorn Drifter wrote:Boots. Running around $150. But they last longer and are more comfortable then any other kind of shoe as far as I'm concerned.

Hmm. Not sure about the boot business in Florida. I personally suggest HH Boots, and I've always found better quality in American or Mexican made ones. Not so say all others are bad, but the ones out of Asia always get torn up on me.Michi wrote:Yeah. Maybe, $30-40 or so, less than$50 for sure.

I still have a pair of Doc Martens that my parents bought for me back in 1997 and they still fit perfectly. I did have them resoled a few years back, which was at no cost, and apparently the new sole also is guaranteed for life.Michi wrote:Yeah. Re: Most expensive piece of clothing you ever bought
I wanted a pair of Docs really bad in high school, but there was no way my parents were going to spend that much money on a pair of footwear. I ended up trading a pair of monkey boots I had worn down pretty good for a pair of worn paint splattered combat boots. From there I just bought used interesting combat boots even after I could afford some Docs myself.Luke wrote:I still have a pair of Doc Martens that my parents bought for me back in 1997 and they still fit perfectly. My parents bought me those boots for two reasons:Hobie-wan wrote: I wanted a pair of Docs really bad in high school, but there was no way my parents were going to spend that much money on a pair of footwear. 1) They knew for $150 or thereabouts I was getting a pair of boots that would last for life.
2) My Dad was extremely pissed off that I borrowed his combat boots from Vietnam more than once without his permission. (I should have told him how many times I "borrowed" cars left at home).
You may want to consider buying a pair of docs Hobie. Of course I have some attachment to my pair, seeing as old as they are, but to be honest thy still look brand new. I guess the best way to put it is that they're like a broken in baseball glove (I'm awful with analogies) in the way that it really becomes yours. Not to say they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn (hats of to you no shoe stringed adidas) but they are far from being uncomfortable. Best foot investment my parents ever made.
And I have to stress again that these shoes are almost old enough to qualify for a driver's license and still look and feel great.
