If Racketboy disappeared forever, where would you go?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I don't know where I'd go. I suppose I'd just lurk in the streets of the internet as an orphan.

I could turn up again on some technical site. Maybe assembler or nesdev. I don't know. I'd have to look into it more.

^ Definitely those who I talk via messenger I'd still chat with, and probably join their boards. I know sevin0seven is at NintendoAge and Atari Age, so those two along with Sega-16 would get more love, but more than anything else, probably RetroGamer website, which I haven't visited in many months thanks to Racketboy's awesome forum and participants.

I agree, racketboy is special. I'm on over at a lot of other forums also - but spend at least 90%, maybe more of my time on here.

The well-done guides are great. I appreciate the smaller community and the thoughtful posts. There are always those we'll disagree with, but usually it can be hashed out pretty respectfully.

I've made some actually incredibly close friends - a bunch of guys i'd really consider setting something up with, in the likes of like 3-4 day get together, and i'd def. keep in touch w/many of them.

As i've gotten older, and more mature (usually) - it's been a welcome blessing to have found like-minded adults whom don't need to get drunk to have a good time (for example) AND who enjoy video games :)

For me however, racketboy is rarely about games. It is about the people. There are 1/2 a dozen guys I believe I have genuine friendships with and that actually are meaningful to me in an irl sorta way. And another 10-12 guys whom I talk to often and really enjoy their company.

If it went away (not sure why it would, but...) if it did, i'd be close to those folks and yeah, probably spend some time carving out our own little niche on another forum and just kicking them out and making it ours.

Gamefaqs' forums were great back in the day -- used to hang out on the arcade discussions a lot. Nowadays you go to any game specific board, especially the obscure ones, and people have taken them as their own kingdoms and making them the rulers of such.
Which is nice in its own way. I used to frequent genre boards like Fighting Games. Now I relegate myself to some personal favourites and older general-console boards.

One day, I'd like to go outside again. To have the sun warm my processors...

Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

I think I remember the outside. They had sandboxes there didn't they? I think so. Gosh, those were fun.

I don't know where I'd go. Maybe NeoGAF or something? I have a friend who posts there. Seems a bit too big for my tastes though.

This place just has a perfect community to me though (or at least the closest to perfect I can imagine). It's relatively drama-free, members are mature and very rarely (if ever) attack each other, the community is big enough to be active but small enough that you don't feel lost in floods of discussion.

I know one place I wouldn't go with is /v/. I spent almost a year posting there and it was by far the most annoying place I've ever been :?

For retro game sites:

Digitpress.com
Assemblergames.com
Sega-16.com
PCEngineFX.com
Neo-Geo.com

I'm active to occasionally-active on all those forums anyway. RB is my most active, but I chat to more people who use PCEngineFX as their main site.

I'm a member of comic message board and a wrestling message board, so I'd probably just post more video game topics in the off-topics section.
