Debating on selling my collection...

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

Since Im not officially selling it yet I thought it would be best to post in Whatever. Now, I love retro games, I think they have their own appeal, they are fun etc. But the problem is, in the last 6 months or so, my retro consoles have been getting less and less use. I still buy games for them, I play them for an hour or 2, then put them on the shelf where they collect dust. So this popped an interesting question in my mind; Do I like to retro game, or do I just collect the retro games? Anyway Im thinking of selling off my collection to somebody that could enjoy it more but I put up a pole and Ill be listing my collection.

I think you should sell the games you don't like and hang on to the classics. I had Genesis that my dad and I tried to modify, and now it sits in my closet waiting to be fixed. After a month, I wanted to play Genesis so bad I went to the nearest flea market and baught a new one. If you just dump all those games on someone else, you'll be sorry.

Then again, I would like to get my hands on that Saturn collection of yours...

I get that alot. Thats about the only console that gets any use besides the Xbox, GCN, and PS3.

I say keep them. Sometimes I also loose interest in retro games and even consider selling some of them, but eventually I realize again how awesome they are and in those moments I thank the heavens for resisting the temptation of getting rid of them. That's why I never sell games or systems these days, I know that if I do it's always a matter of time before I regret it.

If you even have to ask, sell them.

Personally, I would never even consider the option of selling my stuff. If you're thinking about it though, then maybe they're not that important to you.

When I was around your age I sold off my collection and I regret it now. I say keep the rare games and all the sytems and get rid of the rest. If you don't play them just store them in some plastic bins in your room. I guarantee that a few years down the road you pull them out and have some fun. It's better than having to track down everything again, although that is kinda fun too...

I almost sold my DC collection this week via ebay (I was only going to break even on it-no profit) and decided to keep it. Unless you need the money for something else I wouldn't bother only time I sell is to get more games or to save my ass in hard times.

Current gen will eventually lose its luster one of these days. Either that or when you are lonely. That's when you really need to get your retrogaming on. If you must sell, then sell but at least keep your favorite retro system. I can always take it off your hand if you don't want them. I know you say it for free, but I will be nice and chip in on the shipping.

Hey Ryan,

I'd say if you're just not interested in them that they've just become clutter as you mentioned. I had a huge DVD collection which I wasn't using and they were just sitting there so I just got rid of all the DVDs I knew I wouldn't watch again and just kept my favorites. Maybe you could do something similar just weed out the games you know you're not going to play again and possibly keep a bare bones collection of the titles you really like and may one day play again.
