A320 Pocket Retro Emulator (SNES/NES/GEN)

Post by Hazerd »

Anyone have one of these? and if you do, how does it run Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Star Fox, Tales Of Phantasia, or any CPU/chip demanding game?

Check out the video they have showing the thing off. It struggles even with F-Zero. Notice its running with 3-4 frames skipped yet it still runs pretty terrible. I wouldn't expect StarFox works whatsoever on this.

The thing is a off brand of the Dingoo, which itself is a horrible little emulation device that uses SD cards with bad build quality and yeah, don't waste your money and don't fool yourself for one second that this will be a satisfying gaming experience.

While I can't recall exactly how well it did anything, I knew a kid in one of my classes who had one and loved it to death. I do remember it was of above average build quality and was actually a really nice size. Larger than a GB Micro but smaller than a GBA.

It uses MINI SD cards but it's made by a company called Dingoo Digital.

Edit: Ashens did a review a few years ago on it and it was pretty meh. Though, I've heard that it's gotten better over the last few years.

Older. Not wiser.

What the hell is wrong with the sound in SMW? From watching that video I wouldn't consider paying $100 bucks for that at all.

Well hold on a minute there. Before you spend the money and are severely dissipointed, let me caution you that there's a good possibly your SMRPG cart will NOT work on the Supaboy.

Whether the game was made in Mexico or Japan has little to do with SA-1 games running on clones. All revisions of Super Mario RPG were made in both countries. The determining factor is the board revision, which you can't tell without directly looking at the pcb. There is no external way to tell the revision. It may or may not play on clones such as the Supaboy. If it does not, you can technically preform the soldering equivalent to micro surgery, but you need absolute precision and advanced soldering skills to even attempt to do so.

I have a made-in-mexico Mario RPG that refuses to run on the Supaboy or any other clone. Before you buy a Supaboy, test it out on another Super Famiclone as the RetorN3, FC Twin, Retro Duo etc. later revisions of Mario RPG won't run on any of them so if your copy does boot up successfully on one of them, then you're good to go on the Supaboy.

Check out my video review of the Supaboy for more of my thoughts on it including an analysis of its various problems.
