How To Set Up Unreal Tournament Server

I'm playing Unreal Tournament: GOTY Edition on Steam, and I am absolutely baffled as to how to make an online play server/match. Whenever I try, my friend that I am trying to play with can't see the server in the master list. Can someone tell me exactly what I am supposed to do?

You'll need to unblock ports in your firewall on your PC and then on your router or modem you'll likely need to do the same or forward information for that port to your machine. Your friend will need to do the same. Google for the UT port #.

I've had trouble accessing the master server on UT99 for months -- so I gave up playing it. I could not connect to my favorite servers there either. I've seen other message forums with issues on it. Used to love CTF-Face!

I just stick with UT2k4 now. I play ONS on 2 servers and play INV-RPG too.

Speaking of 2k4, how do I add "Buddies" to my list in that game? I assumed it would add all of my friends on Steam who own the game, but that is not the case. Also, Steam will not let me select "Join Game" with a friend, even when we are both playing!

To add Buddies, you have to get their in-game names, not their Steam names. Say if you go on a DM or CTF server and you meet someone there, you should be able to right click their name on the menu that comes up by hitting the Escape key and selecting the Players button on top, and right click on their name, it should say "Add To Buddies".

Also, make sure in the "Player" area under settings that you have your ID and a password for UT Stats: That way you're assigned for the STATS site and many servers won't let you play unless you have a STATS ID.

Very weird, I just installed my GOTY edition I had from years ago and I was wondering the same thing! I love the original UT. I'll mess around with some port forwarding.

Since 2k4 came out before Steam, Steamworks is not enabled on it. So your buddy list and join game will not mapover. Some older games have had it added, but not many.

If I am not mistaken you need to unblock 7777, 8777, 9777, and 27900 for UT99, but dont hold me to that its been a while since Ive had to make an internet facing server.
