I never did beat it. Haven't played it in about oh 5 years. This thread is making me want to play it again, too.

As I already said, it emulates Pinball poorly, and it's platforming elements are also poor. The platforming elements do little to help the slow-moving Pinball. And the tables are terrible in the way everything is placed and mapped out. I'd much rather play a real video pinball game or a real Sonic game.
I think the biggest platform element is the collection aspect of the game. You have to make your way around to the three emeralds before you can move on.

Yeah, I beat it many times back when it was new. Some of the later levels are really fascinating (and tough). This thread is making me consider playing it through again :)
That's impressive because you don't get the little platforms to catch yourself after the first level. It's a pretty big gap too and sometimes the angles make it unavoidable. Kudos.

It's your Together Retro 2nd Half of January Game of the Month! Even on the same compilation as Golden Axe Warrior.

Or the part where you can walk Sonic the Hedgehog around when you can actually get him to stop spinning. Wouldn't that be a platforming element?

I'd call that part more of a "walking element" than a "Platforming element."

I wouldn't disagree. I said the "biggest" platforming element.

You walk him for such a short distance and don't have to do any platform-to-platform jumping, so I'd say no, not really.

And really, what's the problem with that part? How far in the game have you actually gotten?

Also, unlocking areas to get to new areas is a staple of many pinball machines, so I don't see the problem with the layout either...

Whatever. I've given plenty of legitimate reasons why I don't like the game. Slow moving, and doesn't resemble real pinball enough for me being the chief amongst them.

I think it's that you can't accept the fact that someone could possibly dislike the game, which is your problem not mine.
