You know what I hate more than moshing? That guy at the concert standing next to you, singing along with the band at the top of his lungs. FUCK that guy.

When it comes to moshing, I side with Ian MacKaye. I attend concerts to appreciate musical performance, not to thump chests with a bunch of mouth-breathers.

I'm super-excited to hear about the ATDI and Refused! Are these temporary reunions just for Coachella, or will they be recording new material? I wouldn't be too upset if Mars Volta and Sparta would call it quits for a permanent ATDI re-establishment.

ONLY playing one of the greatest rock albums of all time (an opinion shared by many many well established critics and publications)? Are you kidding me? You must be trolling, nobody is that ignorant...

Wow. Can't believe this is real. Good to hear. TMV hasn't put out much I like since De-loused. I enjoyed parts of Frances the Mute.

that album is great, but the fact that you just called it "one of the greatest rock albums of all time" and referenced "many many well established critics and publications" is precisely why i think this whole reunion is, as you might put it, retarded.

So we're not allowed to enjoy their music any more because it's capitalist and "upholding the class system"? I'm sorry, but you can't just create something that big and expect people to ignore it. If they really did want to over throw capitalist ideals and make a mockery of the record industry they'd release all their music for free and perform for nothing. Not going to happen. I'm not saying capitalism is the answer, but it seems to be the 'best-fit' for most of us. Why can't we just take it at face value for what it really is, some very talented guys, playing great music? Why does there have to be a fucking political agenda with 'punk' music. Seriously, I could not give a fuck, good music is good music.

when a group of individuals form a band along a certain set of ideals (an "agenda," if you will), then blatantly deviates from said set of ideals for the sake of just "the music," then criticism is not only inevitable, it's important. to a degree, this invalidates the message in songs like "new noise," "worms of the senses," and "crusader of hopelessness;" these songs are now simply "great music" and their original intent is no longer the crux of the performance. in that, the band loses a great deal of credibility, authenticity, and becomes a bit of a shell of their former selves. it is incredibly ironic, and very disappointing for those who still hold the lyrics of these songs in an extremely high political and social regard.

and i agree, it is a classic record. unparalleled musically, and to an extent, lyrically. which is what makes a limited reunion at several hundred-dollar-plus-ticketed festivals so disillusioning.

what is the more disappointing than "retarded" mosh pits is the fact that most of the retards moshing have no grasp of the concepts presented, and are solely concerned with "the music." because it's loud and fast and there's yelling and you can get all sorts of fucked up to it. see also: rage against the machine.

tl;dr - stuff matters, but some stuff apparently doesn't.
