Next you'll be telling me you women folk should have the right to vote too..craziness
Seriously though, best of luck to you two. Maybe society will come to its senses one day..
Sorry, but this part bothers me. If two people are arguing about something that is either one way or another, true or false, they cannot both be right and wrong. One of them is right and one of them is wrong.sbk wrote:You are both right and wrong.
I appreciate that, thanks.StuntDouble wrote:harper,

If the argument goes in circles and nothing comes from it, so be it. However, one of them is right and the other is wrong. I'm not talking about myself here, just arguments in general.
You can only be right if what your talking about isn't opinion based. Sorry but that is the truth of the matter. You are both right on certain things and both wrong on certain things, therefore you are both wrong and right.
Most court cases are like this. You have two sides the same story. One of them is true and the other is a lie. It is completely impossible for both stories to be true because they are perfect opposites of each other. Regardless of what the judge or jury decides, one side is true and the other is false.
Sorry if anyone thinks I'm an asshole, but I just tell it like it is. Truth is blunt and stubborn and never goes away. That will never change.
No comment - I was already editing my response while you responded, so it is a null point on my end.Jmustang1968 wrote:Do what? At risk of feeding the troll further, have you ever read up, or taken a class on philosophy? Not all arguments are right vs. wrong. For instance, the marriage debate is not a right or wrong. Some people want to get married, and should, and some don't, and shouldn't. It's akin to picking a car, there is no right or wrong, just different options. I only drive around town, so I don't need a burly 4x4 truck, but someone who lives in the mountains would need the burly truck. No right or wrong there, just different circumstances. To put it in more RacketBoy-ish terms, which is better Genesis or SNES? Neither is, it's purely opinion, some prefer one over the other. I can see why you don't approve of marriage, your argument isn't necessarily wrong, but it also doesn't make the argument for marriage wrong, it's a false dichotomy. I'm personally not thrilled on the idea of marriage, but I know that if something happened to my SO, and I wasn't able to see her in the hospital because I wasn't legally "family," I'd be pretty upset. I'm thoroughly non-religious, and I don't feel pressured to get married, nor do I know if I ever will. But that's my decision, just like you made the decision to not get married.Inazuma wrote:Sorry, but this part bothers me. Life isn't black and white dude, if it was it'd be boring as hell.
I apologize for continuing this nonsense, but jesus christ this gets annoying, and this was an otherwise interesting thread, so in trying to put it back on track: I'm not married, I've been with my SO for close to 5 years now, so I've certainly thought about it. Cross that bridge when I come to it.

You are right about some things not being strictly right or wrong. I was talking about things that are. I agree with your main point. Some things are a matter of facts, and others are a matter of opinion.Lokkenjawnz wrote:At risk of feeding the troll further, have you ever read up, or taken a class on philosophy?
