Screw gold diggers and people that buy friends.

I have a cousin that learned that lesson the hard way Hobie. 30 years old, and he's going on his third marriage.

Actually, if you ask your woman to sign a prenup and she refuses, then you know she only wants to marry you for money. If she agrees to it, then she actually loves you.

Of course, you shouldn't get married in the first place. But if you absolutely must get married, asking her to sign a prenup is a way to test her and see if she loves you.

not getting married > married with prenup > married without prenup
keep all your money > losing a little money > losing half your money

Well, unless she knows I'm going to hit it rich in the future, she's the one with all the money.

Your logic is still failing to be logical, but to each their own..

So in this case, you are the gold digger. Unless you signed a prenup? Please tell me you did, and aren't just marrying her for the money.

My thoughts exactly.
I almost posted this previously as well. Trust is one of the most important things IMHO. If you don't trust someone, they aren't very worthy of being a friend, much less your significant other or spouse.
That's an interesting perspective @all three of you.

I see a prenup differently. It's logic in the face of emotion. Let's face it -- it would be a wonderful world if we could fall in love, get married, and stay with a person forever. In the real world, people grow apart, they change, old love fades and new love grows. Why should you be forced into losing all/some/half/part/whatever of your finances/worth just because something as fleeting as love has faded?

A prenup simply sets you up for a time when cooler heads may not prevail. If you last for the long haul, well, great! It didn't hurt you to have it there anyway. Making a prenup out to be something about mistrust is silly. It's about security and stability, and is every bit smart financial planning as properly managing a stock portfolio.

If I was presented with a prenup, I'd think it was pretty sexy to be honest. Says a lot about practicality, and lord knows I *love* a planner.

"You're a gold digger because your wife is rich."

That might be the stupidest assumption I've ever seen you make.
