sega genesis power base converter question

so i was thinking about buying one for my model 1 genny but mine is modded for s-video will master system games play with s-video?

As long as the added ports don't interfere with the Power Base fitting on. Look up pictures, it covers part of the back of the system.

but can master system games output s-video is i think what im getting at here i know the NES cant

I just read a thing about a master system being modded to play s-video so I guess that would mean it is possible. I have no idea if it makes any difference that you'd be using a powerbase converter on a genesis.

It works fine. SMS will work no matter how you have your Genesis connected to your TV. The 32X, however, will not work out of your s-video jack. Nor will SMS games work with a 32X attached.

Master System games will play with S-Video.

I have an s-video modded genesis. They play fine

why can't the nes? I'm pretty sure folks have been S-video modding top loader NESs for some time.

The video encoder on the NES only outputs composite. You're probably thinking of A/V mods for top-loading NES's, since they're normally RF only.

The NES PPU only outputs composite. The only way you can get S-video out of it is if you replace the PPU with an RGB PPU, then wire it up to a video encoder board which will convert the RGB to S-video.
