Re: Nintendo releases Official Zelda Timeline
Oh lord finally. I'm glad that, actually, no one has EVER gotten it right before. I've never seen a timeline in this shape

I have to agree. I find it odd that they rate phantom hourglass as good, and some of those other ones as OK. Phantom hourglass is easily one of the most 'OK' zeldas there is.MrPopo wrote:This chart is massive fail for putting the Oracle games in the lowest tier of real Zelda games.

I'm probably the one person who's always been annoyed at Nintendo's ignoring the CD-i games. Sure they are pretty bad games. Sure they were developed by someone else. BUT Nintendo did grant that license, so sweeping them under the rug is annoying to me.3DSStrider wrote: Where do Zelda's Adventure and the Game and Watch Zelda fit into this?

And The Minish Cap was developed by Capcom and it's considered canon? You might as well include the CDi games. They do exist and they are Zelda games after all; I don't care if they're "bad" games or not.

TBF, Nintendo probably was probably quite majorly involved in minish cap and oracles even if capcom developed it. They weren't involved at all in the development of the CDi games. Besides which, I'm not sure they would fit anywhere in series canon, they dont really follow the story of the others.Opa Opa wrote:^This.noiseredux wrote:I'm probably the one person who's always been annoyed at Nintendo's ignoring the CD-i games. Re: Nintendo releases Official Zelda Timeline
The whole timeline issue is kind of silly to me.
The games are called Legend of Zelda. Consider the word Legend for a moment. Where is it written that Legends have to maintain a consistent timeline?
Consider that the legend of Iphigenia happens just before Agamemnon leaves for the Trojan War, and the legend of Electra happens after Agamemnon returns home from the Trojan War. This does not mean that the two stories need to be entirely consistent, nor do they need to be consistent with the Illiad. Each story stands on its own without the need for a consistent timeline.

in all seriousness, I don't really care about timelines or whatever for any games. I just want to enjoy each game.samsonlonghair wrote:The whole timeline issue is kind of silly to me.

Re: Nintendo releases Official Zelda Timeline
Exactly. Enjoy each game on its own merits; forget about trying to shoehorn the games into a collective canon.
