it is quite obvious that you shouldn't use a toaster power brick on a top loader as the top loader uses the same power as a genesis 1/super famicom.
my friend brought over a top loader with a nes-002 brick.
it worked, only later did i notice the adapter says:
OUTPUT: ac9v 1.3a (which is for a toaster), use with nes control deck no. nes-001 (toaster) & nes-101 (top loader) only.
so is this the top loader brick or a later toaster brick mismarked?

I also rent and sell PS2, Wii and XBOX softmod-kits and I collect DVD movies let me know what you have.
The top loader requires DC Power? If you're saying it requires the same power as the Genesis then there is no way this brick would work since it is AC.
Ok after some quick research what I thought was confirmed. Both the NES and NES 101 (toploader) use AC power. The Famicom used DC power (as did the Genesis and SNES).
When you say "switching" do you mean the adapter could output AC or DC power? If not you are lucky your top loader hasn't fried.
