Does this Super Metroid need a new save battery?

The MK and the 4 or 5 other games my friend gave me had been in a leaky shed during a hurricane. The labels were fine but all has some degree of ugliness inside and toasted batteries where applicable. All worked after a little TLC other than saving on the MK cart.

On the upside, looks like it's a MAD-1 version. :D

Cleaned everything off and replaced the battery.

It saves now! Success!
