Jet Grind Radio in 1080p @ 60fps would be glorious

Post by eastside »

Thanks to Racketboy I got the full experience of Jet Grind Radio in the beauty of DC VGA. Time has passed since I last played it and Sega seems to be on a roll releasing quality HD digital remakes of their classic titles like Daytona USA and Sonic CD.

I would like to create some hype to see Jet Grind Radio make an HD resurrection. What would be awesome about a digital remake would be the opportunity to upgrade the visuals to 60fps. The cell shaded visuals still look beautiful today and an upgrade to 60fps would be particularly significant for Jet Grind Radio that would produce a visual experience that would be stunning.

Any other SEGA classics that deserve HD remakes go ahead and make hype for them. NiGHTS and the true arcade original SEGA Rally Championship 1995 would be at the top of my list.

I don't think today's game consoles are powerful enough to do that game at 1080p. Only very simple games are usually at 1080p native, like Rayman Origins and that i mostly 2D-ish.

I believe a dreamcast emulator could do this. But the textures would still be sort of low res.

I've never emulated the dreamcast though, so others may know better.

I played Shenmue in 1080p on my Brothers Sony Vaio laptop on a Bravia 40 inch LCD TV.

You will need to set this up on your PC and configure it, check Youtube for tutorials.

You're right, but it still looks great.

Yea that looked pretty nice, but honestly using a VGA box on my 42" HDTV looks pretty darn close to that. The first game I put in when I got my VGA was Jet Grind Radio and I remember it looking as good as that video.
