Metroid Fusion - Game breaking glitch? Need some help

Post by Valkyrie-Favor »

Hey everyone! Nice to meet you. I've been lurking around here for a while, and I thought you could give me some help.

So, I've been playing Metroid Fusion. I'm about four hours in, at the point where the reactor silo is damaged and the power goes off. I made it to the boss room and the spider thing ate me. I load up my game, spawn at the ship, and head to the left. I get to the barrier, which I destroy with super bombs, and roll through the small opening. That animal carcass there is supposed to be in the foreground - I've checked out five or six different Let's Plays and that's what the player does every time.

Instead, the animal carcass (at 2:35 in the video) is now solid and I can't pass through it. Super bombs, charge shots, and SuperFreezeMissiles just don't help. I have no idea why this is happening, and neither does my neighbor who has replayed Fusion several times. I've never heard of anyone having this problem. Or am I just missing something obvious? If I am, go easy on me :D

Here's what happens to everyone else (at 2:35)

Hey there, I have experienced this glitch before. Its very strange, but I think the only way you can get it to go away is to restart your GBA and load the save again.

I tried that about 10 times already. I'll try again, though. Hopefully I'll get lucky this time :)

No luck. Think I'll have to start the game over? I wouldn't mind that, but I'm afraid the same thing will happen. How many times did the glitch happen to you?

Have you talked to your C.O. via the computer on your ship yet? IIRC, you can't get through there until you do so.

I'm pretty sure I already talked to him - my save file is on the ship - but I didn't think of that. I'll check now!

Er...it worked. I feel stupid :P Thanks, man.

Don't feel dumb, Metroid games can get cryptic. I was stuck for so long on Super Metroid at that point where the giant armored slug thing is in your way.

Even dumber is when I forgot Samus could even run in Super Metroid. There's a point where you have to run across some disappearing floor, and for like 2 days I couldn't figure it out, and all I had to do was hold down the X button, lol.

Thanks. I was kidding, but either way...that's why we play Metroid in the first place, right? :)
