That thread had some excellent music I was glad to check out and, subsequently, pick up. Another thread this year would be golden.

on the menu tonight, "Slave to the Grind" by Skid Row. Yeah, it's classic cheese rock but whatever. It's a guilty pleasure
Add to that a little Blue Oyster Cult: Don't Fear the Repear

I'm also listening to a few mashups:
* Bad Things Will Roll with the Devil - Youtube vid
* Heart-Shaped Boom [Black-Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" + Marilyn Manson's "Heart-Shaped Glasses"] - Youtube vid, MP3 DL link in vid description
* Bring Me the New Little Sickness - YouTube vid
* Not Afraid of Going Under [Eminem's "Not Afraid" + Evanescence's "Going Under"] - YouTube vid
* Masters of Power [Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme + Metallica's "Masters of Puppets] - YouTube vid
* Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) [mashup of the Eurythmics version and Marilyn Manson cover] - YouTube vid
* Thriller/Heads Will Roll [from Glee] - YouTube vid
And there's this song from this fake trailer, that mashes up Avantasia's "Scarecrow" with Celtic Woman's cover of "Over the Rainbow", but it's just a partial thing, and it's only in this trailer.
And here's some mashups I wanna hear:
* Linkin Park's "Giving Up" with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme (the film version, which is ofter referred to as being done by either Megadeth or Buckethead, but it's neither), with bits of other LP songs
* The Cramps' "Bikini Girls with Machine Girls" and Horrorpops "Psychobitches Outta Hell"
And a few others I can't think of at the moment.

Re: What are you listening to at the present?
I was just listening to Californication (the album, not just the song) for the first time in a long time. I immediately noticed how shitty it sounded. When I think back, I kinda remember distortion. But listening to it now, it's horrible! Sure enough, I Googled "californication, loudness war" and it comes up as one of the worst offenders.
Luckily though, Google also found an "unmastered" version that exists. At least, that's what the internet calls it. It seems to be a pre-release of the album, before some idiot sacrificed the quality for loudness. I just listened to Parallel Universe in comparison to the retail version, night and day difference. I read some songs have some minor differences here and there, and there's an extra track too. Also, apparently there's an older mp3 release of the "unmastered" album, and a newer lossless FLAC release.
Don't know if this is old news or not, but I was stoked to find it.

Cutty Ranks - Sleng Teng I love a good sleng teng.
Wugazi - 13 Chambers I would've put this on my top 2011, but it's a mashup. It's like Fugazi and Wu-Tang were made to go together. That beatles mashup reminded me of this.
