Where to find the screw drivers?

Post by RCBH928 »

In a lot of my electronics I feel like I should dissemble them and clean them, now I am facing this issue with the n64, but their screw drivers are kind of hard to get. Can I find screw drivers for all the electronics hardware off the shelf in any hardware store? Or each system needs its own kit?

I am not talking speciically about the n64 here, but all electronics in general . I have seen many screw drivers tool kits in stores, but am not sure if any of these would work with all the electronic devices.

Nintendo systems use proprietary screws. You need a special screwdriver bit called a 'Gamebit' to open them.

Racketboy here sells them.

Most other stuff uses pretty standard screws I've found.

It's *always* good to have a precision screwdriver set handy for electronics. I have them on hand for repairing my laptop, which has some of the tiniest screws ever, and I needed a set similar to this to replace my LCD monitor earlier this year. As Apple stated, some companies may have a proprietary type of screw, but for computer repair, you can use any tiny screwdriver.

Amazon has some really good deals on them.

This is a nice set similar to mine, it has 6 slotted and Phillips sizes

If you want more control, this is a 32-piece set. It has bigger sizes for regular screws, but it appears to have the smaller sizes too.

Of course, check through the site and search "precision screwdrivers" to find the set that works for you.

I too have the first set that ExedExes listed. You can find that in many places for pretty cheap, Amazon as well.

Hm. That looks like it has a torx set (great for opening cell-phones).

Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

For the Gamebits, be sure to get both sizes:

Say, how did you place a Green Face in the Board Index list? :?:
