Promethus (Alien Prequel) Trailer
Re: Promethus (Alien Prequel) Trailer
Looks good. I can't wait for James Cameron's Prometheuses.

"EGE: Final question. I have a feeling what the answer will be, but many want to know. Will we see the original xenomorph in Prometheus?
RS: No. Absolutely not. They squeezed it dry. He (the xenomorph) did very well. (He laughs) He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"

You are technically correct regarding semantics of a "prequel", but my point was that the naming convention you stated is not necessary in the same way as Tolkien's works(based on what we know right now about the connection between Prometheus and the Alien franchise), regardless of what would work better for marketing purposes. Sure, letting the populace know explicitly that the projects are related would no doubt help revenue - but Scott is not Bay - when it comes to artistic sensibilities, among others.BurningDoom wrote:Not the same at all. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Trilogy were well-loved books long before they were movies. So to most fans, the fact that The Hobbit comes before the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (and not prequel at all actually since the Hobbit was written first) is common knowledge.
On the other hand, Prometheus is an entirely new piece of fiction that is a TRUE prequel and new addition to the Alien franchise.
My point is probably moot anyway, because even if Scott decided not to link the two via the title, once the marketing department gets involved, the commercials will probably go something like this: "Prometheus - from the legendary director who brought you Alien!"

Hehe, yeah. One of the "Space Jockey" miniatures was on display at the MGM theme park for awhile. It was incredibly small, but the detail was insane. I filmed it with an old Handycam in the late 90s. It was SO detailed that people thought I had an areal shot of a life sized set.Xeogred wrote:"EGE: Final question. I have a feeling what the answer will be, but many want to know. Giger is madness. I'm very happy to hear it sounds like he's going to be involved with this as well again, and we won't just being seeing more Xenomorph junk, so it'll be new crazy designs, architecture, etc, I hope.
