That box does NOT covert signal formats. It's a switch.

At a relatives house, so I'm replying with a phone, so forgive the lacks of webpage links :P

ViewSonic Nextvision N6. Look it up on a search engine, I have one, and it works pretty well. Only takes one input source, not multiple game systems, but handles everything I threw at it.

Inputs:
VGA, composite video, component video, svideo, stereo audio (red + white), PC audio (mini jack), TV tuner (RF)
Outputs:
Speaker out (mini jack), headphone out (in front), Vga out

Comes with a remote, allows you to switch between the PC input, game input and tv input. Does NOT support 1080 resolutions, but otherwise, works like a dream. Just hook up a game switch box to the inputs, and you are golden.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

I don't understand. If it's got component-in and VGA-out, then shouldn't it accomplish what I want it to?

From the Amazon description:
Amazon wrote:A low cost 3x1 multiformat switcher for every home theater. This switcher features 3 Inputs each for HDMI (with Repeater), Component Video, VGA and Composite with Stereo Audio. All of these route to a single output of the same format. It may be switched on its front panel or via included IR remote control. It has the highest quality circuitry for no signal loss at any point. Please Note: This switcher does not convert between formats. It is essentially four 3x1 switchers built into one unit.

one thing... you say it only takes one input, not multiple. But then you say it's got VGA, composite, component, svideo and RF inputs. That part confused me.

What I meant by that is that there is only one pair of audio in ports (red + white). This one pair of audio in is shared between the component, composite or s-video inputs. So it is up to you on what input you want to use for your console. What I did is hook up the Madcatz switch box to the inputs on this VGA box, and plugged all my consoles on the switch box.

oooh. I wonder if there's a way to just use like a Y-shaped cable to actually stick two reds into the red and two whites into the white... if you get what I'm saying?

Yep, that should work well. I see a box on ebay for $65:
