True, but A+ is simple enough to get. And would only cost me like $200 for the exams. If nothing else, it would be a nice way to get back into the swing of things - I have not taken a test of any kind in over six years.

Thank you Stark. Turns out there is one around the corner from my office, sadly they do not offer Microsoft certs anymore, but they do offer Cisco and CompTIA - since I got my A+ and Network+ in the late 90s, I believe they have expired (In 2010 they started giving them 3 year lifespans). The reason I didnt think about Pearson Vue is because I was looking for MS certs specifically, but now I know I need to update the CompTIAs.
Correct. A+, Security+, and Network+ all have 3 year expiration starting 1/1/11:

CompTIA PDF file with FAQ on certifications and their new expirations

I checked because I'm A+ and I was certified before 2010 so I'm in for life :)

I just saw that no A+ test for me, now to find that piece of paper from back then that says I am certified.

I never understood the point of these certifications. If I were hiring an IT person, I would ask questions about their job experience, what projects they worked on, problems they had and and they solved them, and I would also give them some technical problems to see how they would solve them. For the technical problem solving, it's not important to get the answer right but instead, have the right approach to figuring a problem out. I can usually tell if a person is bright and has the right attitude. That's more important than some paper certification.

I agree 100%, but if you do not have a degree in the field or appropriate certs, alot of companies wont even look at your resume to get you into the interview.

I agree and disagree. The agreement comes in where it is true that you can have experience and be more qualified then someone with certs up the ying-yang. I disagree that there is no point. It's like a University degree, on most of the certs you have to not be a complete asshat to get them. Therefore it's a starting point in the hiring process. For example, if I am hiring someone to be a network engineer with a Cisco focus, having a CCNA should be a cake walk for the person I want to hire and if you haven't taken the time to prove that it's a cake walk by getting the cert, why should I bother with you?

Smile: Went Bar-Hopping last night and had a great time.

WTF?: As me and my friend were literally 2 feet away from the car, 2 cops pulled and caught us off guard. My friend literally went into Deer caught in headlights mode. Funny stuff ensued with giving our ID's and the police officer asking 'why I shaved off my awesome stache?'. Good way to end the night.
