That's almost a third less than projected.
It's still more than fourteen times more than the Virtual Boy ever sold. :P

That 11 million is up to dec 10ths week. There are still 3 more weeks to go (from the last data). It most likely wont sell 16 million units but it wont be too far off.

Well, you also have to consider that there have been very few system-selling games until now, with Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 recently being released, and a few more big names upcoming. While Nintendo didn't meet expectations, those expectations were too high with a lack of games and somewhat poor marketing, with many people just seeing it as a new DS revision.

Plus, remember: The 3DS sold more units in the States in eight months than the DS in twelve. Nintendo just set the bar too high.

AND though it's 11 million through a year, the 3DS was released in late March. So the 3DS still has three months to hit that goal.

I agree completely. I wasn't really saying anything other than "Nintendo projected too high, and did not accomplish it." But yeah, I agree that it's lack of games more than anything.

The 3DS has started to sell recently, but it's not because of the 3D gimmick. It actually has some good games now. I always turn the 3D completely off because it makes things worse.

My copy of Super Mario 3D Land is currently in the mail, so we will see if that becomes the first game for me to play in 3D or not. The game that I've played the most in 3D so far has been Pilotwings Resort, but I couldn't stand it anymore after a while and ended up turning it off.

Same story with 3DTV's. Wearing the glasses fixes the problem of viewing angle that the 3DS has, but it still sucks in my opinion. I much prefer 2D even when the 3D works. It just doesn't look right and gets in the way of enjoying the movie.

Looks like the Itsu no Ma ni Koukan Nikki is out today. I don't know the official English name, so let's go with Sudden Trade Diary. I went ahead and set it up, and then sent something to a few Racketeers that were on my friend list. I hope you enjoy it. I'm a terrible artist. (^_^);

Ah, Swapnote! I have heard that term in podcasts I've listened to and thought it was a messaging service that was coming to the 3DS in the future. I am disappointed now.

I just acquired a 3DS for Christmas. At first glance, I thought the 3D effect looked cool, but in actual play I kind of don't like it. Everytime I slightly move the 3DS while playing Mario, the 3D effect gets a bit wonky and dissorients me. The 3D in Starfox 64 3D also feels weird to me as someone who played the original game a lot. With the 3D turned off though, I am enjoying both games immensely and I feel they both justify owning this thing. Plus, that 25th Anniversary, black Zelda 3DS looks badass

Nintendo is the kind of gimmicks it seems. I think Skyward Sword would actually be a more enjoyable Zelda game without the motion control stuff. It's awful during the swimming and flying parts of the game. It makes no sense that you move Link with an analog stick, but when you fly or swim you have to move him with the Wii remote. It's completely unintuitive
