Xbox 360 Wireless USB receivers, are they gone?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Xbox 360 Wireless USB receivers, are they gone?

Post by indecks »

I can't for the life of me find one of these things. I checked Gamestop, I checked Wal-mart, even Amazon and Newegg don't have them. They have the knockoffs that look just like the real thing, but no one has the official Microsoft brand one.

I checked eBay and there's one in it's original Xbox packaging but it's already up wards of $30 or $40. Were these discontinued or something?

I'm trying to find a decent way to get a gamepad working on windows. I have a PS1 controller using a USB adapter and that works awesome for stuff like MAME or other emulators, but for some really really odd reason, newer games don't have a "use controller" option. As an example, Modern Warfare 3 doesn't have that option. I don't understand why. Before I get lynched for using a controller on a PC FPS game, my reasoning is that Im playing these games on my home theater PC, which happens to also be of gaming-rig specs. (not the BEST, but it runs MW3 and BF3 on highest settings).

I don't want to use a wireless keyboard, or even wired keyboard to play some games like these. I used Xpadder with a PS3 controller, but it has to be wired. I figured I'd just get one of these Xbox wireless adapters and use one of my xbox controllers, but I can't find the damn things!

Yes, the official ones were discontinues a while back. I have a knockoff one myself and it has been working fine for me.

Hm, I guess that explains it. Why did they discontinue them?

I found a used official one on eBay for $10, so I went with that.
