I think I hate Facebook now

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I think I hate Facebook now

I tried out the new "timeline" profile layout, taking part in Facebook's little experiment. Long story short, it sucks. I have yet to hear from anyone who likes it.

But now there is no way to turn it off. It's likely going to be forced upon all users. Remember back in the day when Facebook didn't have a shitty format? Why don't they just stick with a format and not change it every 5 months?

I'm definitely leaving the website once this timeline thing goes completely live.

What don't you like about it exactly?

I tried the preview on my profile, and was so taken with it I chose to publish it right away, as opposed to waiting for December 22nd I think it is. I like it so much that I wish they'd adapt it for the news feed as well. (..and perhaps allow the sort RECENT option to STICK!)

It's clean, you can see a lot more at once than you used to be able to, and it separates your interesting posts from your non-interesting (activity). I actually felt it was a really positive overhaul from a team that generally misses the boat.

Every time Facebook makes a layout change the majority of my friends post "F&*K FACEBOOK! SIGN THIS PETITION TO CHANGE IT BACK! blah blah blah"

I don't get it. IMHO All the imposed layout changes seem to make it easier to see what's "going on" with everyone...

However I did only just found out about the "hidden messages" thing

Nothing on the internet should change ever.

I think deep down, I got bugged by the sudden change.

The day after I changed it, I got notifications from things I posted in 2008. It definitely shows a lot more, but everything looks more like a pile of crap thrown on a desk. I was probably being a bit harsh by saying I'd "leave the website" but I'm still bugged by it.

Only now? Why didn't you hate it the first time you saw it like a rational person?

I checked out a few of my friends new timeline page. I'll be honest, it looks way better.

Yeah, those web pages from the early 90s were the best. I miss all of those web sites that just had links to other web sites.

My problem with Facebook is how much of a liability it is in terms of personal data being made available to the public. I have one since it is the easiest way to keep up with friends but mine is pretty devoid of info.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
