Less then 66 days until Mass Effect 3 comes out, cant' wait.
So there are less then 81 days and counting until Mass Effect 3, how are you guys preparing what is going to be the most awesome RPG/new IP series to come out in years. I plain on playing the first two over again completely different then the first 5 playthroughs I have done so far.
What do you guys think of the series. For me it was the first game I played from Bioware and thanks to it I have tried and loved all there other games. They are one of the few developers I actually watch continuously to find out new updates and about new games they are making. One reason I love the mass effect series is that the galaxy is so well-constructed that it felt like a decades-old franchise and that it represented "a high-water mark for video games as a story-telling medium. Hopefully they can keep it up or even surpass it. And time for some of the best ending music ever, too bad the director that did the music for the first two will not be doing this one. I will admit though I was disappointed with how they replaced Urdnot Wrex with Grunt. Though the second game has a higher metracritic score as skyrim.

Wrex is coming back, if the trailer is of any indication. I liked Grunt anyway, he was intimidating and unpredictable - never knew what side he was really on.
I'm hype for the game, I recently got into the series and was really ensnared by the universe - quite a bit different from my first experience with ME1, it took me like 3 attempts before I finally just gave it the chance it deserved.

mass effect 1 did seem to have a slower pace, a bit more rigid. Then again they had to have the story set up for Mass Effect 2, which I think was worth it, can't wait until January actually. Bioware has said they will be releasing a demo containing both a mission from the main campaign and some multiplayer.Lodestar wrote:Wrex is coming back, if the trailer is of any indication. ME1 just had that loooong introduction before most of the action, and it was a bit intimidating at first with the the confusing menu - which I eventually got used to and loathed ME2 for dumbing down.

The first one was awesome, but I thought the second one was meh. IMHO ME2 was trying too hard to be edgy and was not particularly intriguing, whereas ME1 had me enthralled throughout. The first had a mystery that unraveled in a slow and fascinating manner; the second had but one major plot twist that hit you in the face only towards the end. ME2 gets major points for introducing Mordon, one of the series' best characters, but he alone can't supply enough replay value to draw me back in.
I'm not sure if I should have my hopes up too high for 3. I'm sure it's going to be a fine game, but I want it to be spectacular. Until I see for myself whether it will continue in the direction of 2 (being predictable and having a "darker" feel) or if it will bring back some of the flavor of 1 (consistent great dialog and scenes that moved me to tears), I won't let myself get too excited.

I'm a bit nervous about some of the changes I'm hearing about, particularly the multi-player component I heard of, but I'm thoroughly invested in this series. I loved the first one, the second one-not so much, but I still liked it quite a bit. The ending was great and the game features one of the best uses of the QTE that I've seen. I want to see how the story ends. This story is an epic on par with Star Trek or Star Wars, but fully interactive
This along with FFXIII-2 and Lollipop Chainsaw are among the first 2012 games that I am genuinely interested in

Consider me "nervous" as well. I just have a feeling this will kind of be Halo 2/3 all over again and all the subtle/mysteriousness of the first Mass Effect will be completely lost in the final game here. Seriously how are they going to take on millions (billions?) of Reapers? I just hope they don't pull anything out of their ass here to settle the story, but it's gotten far fetched in general.

n00b! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) I too am surprised that a lot of people are agreeing, though.SuperAnthony64 wrote:Every time I say this on other forums I get called a troll or a noob that doesnt know anything about good games.Key-Glyph wrote:The first one was awesome, but I thought the second one was meh.
On a random note, I have to ask: did anybody else notice that ME2 could have been effectively titled "MASS EFFECT 2: I Hate You, Dad!"? It seems like so many character backstories turned out that way.
Agreed. It's amazing that way. The thought that went into the alien races on every level just astounds me.Gamerforlife wrote:This story is an epic on par with Star Trek or Star Wars, but fully interactive

Yeah, don't get me wrong, like you guys I still loved ME2. I mean, I even beat it on Insanity and got all the achievements before the DLC's hit, lol. But yeah, I just think it was a slight step down from the first game when it came to the storytelling and some gameplay mechanics. ME3 looks even more streamlined, so yeah... I dunno, skeptical to say the least.
Anyways, I'm still waiting for Mass Effect The TV Series. COME ON!
