The PS2 version is well worth picking up for the English dialogue alone. There's plenty of LOLWUT moments.
So inept translations and crappy voice acting is your thing? I can understand the appeal, I guess. Just like watching horrible dubbed Gamera movies. However, when playing a game and given a choice, I'd rather avoid spending money on crap. It only encourages companies to put out more crap. I don't suppose that domestic port has an option for Japanese voice acting, does it?
I can see where you are coming from with this, but this game is a shmup. You would either get a bunch of characters that you (Or at least I) don't understand, a "good " translation that would probably bore you, or what we ended up getting, which is the best dialogue to ever exist in a localized shmup.

There is an option at the opening of the game to turn off all the story sequences if it really bothers anyone, and would have made the difference in a possible purchase.

Also, spending the $5 on a game that first came out on the dreamcast is not going to change whether comanies make crappy dubs for shmups in the future. If anything (and this still wouldn't be true) you would be making localizations of shmup more likely to happen at ALL.

Sorry to rant, but this is the one case where I would find it quite silly if someone spend the $60 on a DC copy, or $35 on a GC copy, just to avoid what is the best worst dubbing ever, when the ps2 copy can be found at flea markets for like $5.

Everyone who owns a ps2 should own Castle Shikigami II. Its the game that got me into the genre, and a year later, I am still working on my scores with different characters.

Aero Fighters 2 wants to talk with you:

Yes you can play as a dolphin, and yes, he talks about frying. Shikigami no Shiro 2, aint got nothing on that.

^ That is nothing compared to Shikigami 2, so I must disagree with you. That is a funny typo, but

A: You can actually tell what he is trying to say, unlike Shiki 2 half the time, and
B: Its not voice acted. I mean, one of the voice actors in Shiki actually reads a cue. Its fucking hilarious.

Aero Fighters is still good shit though.

I forgot that Shikigami was voice acted. I bought the trilogy on PC and havent played them in five years now that I think about it.

There's a trilogy release on PC? Thats awesome!

Some folks over at the shmups forums have been working on translating the first game and patching it for (most likely) the pc version.

Was dolphin in the 3rd Aero Fighters game as well?

Sorry, it wasnt a three pack or anything, just a site I found had all three as a bundle, disc only, for dirt cheap (I think I paid something like $27 total with shipping).

Just thought I'd throw in that as part of skimming down my collection I've been looking to unload my GCN imports. I'd take 30 shipped for Giftpia, Kururin Squash, and a GCN freeloader (will not work on the Wii obviously). The cardboard sleeves definitely have some shelf ware, but they aren't bad considering it's a paper sleeve and all. Just saying.

Why are you guys trying to say that Castle Shikigami II or Aero Fighters 2/Sonic Wings 2 has the silliest Engrish? Download on the PC Engine has them ALL beat. Behold:
