I'm a huge Jay-Z fan, but I think it's safe to call these my two favorite albums.

downloaded it a while back, but haven't listened yet. Cam's Purple Haze is mindblowing though. I doubt he'll ever be that perfect again.OldSchool_Boy wrote:

if forced to choose, I'd say American Gangster is my favorite Jay-Z album.dsheinem wrote: very nice. the AG soundtrack is arguably some of his best work.

The only album I have/listened to by Jay-Z is Roc the Familia and that was a pretty good listen.noiseredux wrote:

As far as Cam'ron, I never really paid much attention to the guy but that mixtape really impressed me. I definitely need to check out more of his work.

Reasonable Doubt - awesome album, though unique for its sound. I know yr a fan of Cuban Linx, so you might dig this quite a bit. It has a late 90's East Coast mafioso sound to it. Definitely worth hearing. A lot of people still think it's his best (not me), but I do like it a lot.
In My Lifetime Vol 1 - very good. Though leaning towards pop-hip hop. If you like late 90's Bad Boy hip hop, then it's for you. Considering you like It Was Written a lot, you may dig this one.
Streets Is Watching - more of a posse album for the Roc. If you liked Dynasty, this is similar.
Vol 2 Hard Knock Life - very hit or miss. It's very pop. I like about half of it.
Vol 3 Life and Times of S. Carter - more hardcore than the last few. Has a heavy Rough Riders style to it. Good stuff.
The Dynasty Roc La Familia - you already heard it. It's good.
The Blueprint - O... M... G... this album is amazing. "Takeover" is hands down my favorite diss track ever recorded. There's so much amazing soul samples on here. Just insane.
Unplugged - hello... it's Jay-Z with The Roots. I shouldn't have to say anything else.
Best of Both Worlds - horrible collab with R. Kelly. This COULD have been interesting, but it's not.
Blueprint 2 The Gift And The Curse - I like it a lot, but it's a lot to digest. It's a double album. It's all over the place. But give it time. The title track is amazing.
The Black Album - you must own this. Everyone should. Even if you don't like hip hop.
Kingdom Come - meh. His worst solo album. There's a handful of great tracks and quite a lot of filler.
Unfinished Business - another collab with R. Kells, but this one I actually find enjoyable. It's way crazier. just really ridiculous in a so bad it's good kind of way.
Collision Course - a collab with Linkin Park. It's actually not bad. But kind of boring since it's mostly a mash-up and that was overdone by the time this came out.
American Gangster - my favorite. Mindblowing. Please get this.
The Blueprint 3 - I really really really like this one. Very slept on, but totally worth it. Better than Blueprint 2, as it's far more focused.
Watch The Throne - collab with Kanye, and insanely good. My favorite album of this year.
*I left out the handful of hits compilations, as they mostly have a handful of tracks you won't get on these albums proper.
