Any decent Famiclone recommendations?
Any decent Famiclone recommendations?
Many Famiclones are shoddy pieces of plastic crap, and their game pads feel terrible in my hands and not at all durable. Are there any that are made well that are a good alternative to buying an actual Famicom? Or should I just go ahead and get a used Famicom?

Misread topic...I have a Retron 3 as well but I've never used it for Famicom games. I've also had a bad experience with it overall...but it's been okay for my NES games, so it might be worth a shot. (The power cable it came with didn't work, so I've been using a mismatched cable that doesn't provide enough power for SNES games to work...but whatever)

You can go the Gyromite Adaptor route. Play the Famicom games in your NES.greg wrote:Many Famiclones are shoddy pieces of plastic crap, and their game pads feel terrible in my hands and not at all durable. Until you find one, to hold you over get an inexpensive SuperJoy or PowerJoy. They have been knocked as cheap emulation, I have two and they work pretty well with the built in games as a bonus. I took one apart at the link you can see the construction. Some have a Famicom cart slot in the bottom.

Thanks. That article was mostly helpful, but I should have pointed out a few things in my first message. 1. Not interested in emulation, since I already have that on my xbox. 2. I'm looking for a Famiclone that will play Famicom games, not NES games. On your page, the image that says "ATTACK OF THE CLONES!" has a pic of a Famiclone I've seen plenty of times in Japan. I was about to pick one up, but the controllers were shoddy. You didn't review that system, it appears. Which of the clones on your page plays Japanese Famicom games?Satoshi_Matrix wrote:Thanks for the vote of confidence swiftzx! Indeed I do!
