it appears to be four PSN games getting a physical release at budget price. I wonder if we'll start seeing other physical compilations of PSN games like this in the near future?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking.CRTGAMER wrote:Nice! I wonder if it is free and clear of online authentication? Anyone who buys this, can you disable your PS3 Online before first time inserting the 4 pack? Please post the results here.
Trying not to make this another DRM Thread, just curious about the discnoiseredux wrote:I'm not sure I understand what you're asking.CRTGAMER wrote:Nice! When you buy PSN games, you don't have to be online to play them.
I don't get why this would be. There's other games you can buy either as PSN downloads or as physical discs, and I've never heard of an "online authentication" process for the physical version.CRTGAMER wrote: Trying not to make this another DRM Thread, just curious about the disc
The initial first time bootup, maybe the discs might require initial online for copy protection purposes. If it is required, then buying a disc over a download defeats the concept of owning an archive to use many years later. Hopefully the discs are clear of this, then worthwhile to buy over the download.
I remember hearing a handful of 360 games required you to be online while playing them... but I've never heard of this for anything on PS3. Maybe he's thinking of that.Hazerd wrote:Doesnt this DRM only relate to steam/PC games, never heard of it on console games as it's much harder to mod a console and copy a console game than it is to download a simple patch for PC games.
Yes I'm thinking the Steam route. Not for online gameplay just the initial copy protection verification. With all the mandated Firmaware updates and whatnot maybe the discs might need a first time run online authentication?noiseredux wrote:I remember hearing a handful of 360 games required you to be online while playing them... but I've never heard of this for anything on PS3. again, Im just confused why you think THIS game would do that if no other PS3 game does that?CRTGAMER wrote: Yes I'm thinking the Steam route.
