Wii and Gamecube Component Connection Compare

I tested the Gamecube game Cubivore on both the Wii and Gamecube consoles. I chose a "N64" graphic level game to see some of the lines. The game prompts every time at the Startup Screen to choose Progressive Scan or not. I selected 480p Progressive Scan for both consoles and saw similar results.

Note the game character on the left. The face and feet were not moving during the photo shoot.

Phew, looks like there is no difference from what I can see... at least I hope. I would love to see those close up shots that you mentioned in a post a split second ago then deleted, just to be sure  . Thanks.

The GameCube one actually looks a bit more colorful in places.

Oh wow, yeah. Didn't even notice that. The feet are see-though on the Wii.

That is interesting. So this is not a different frame of video? Maybe CRTGAMER meant the animal on the right versus the left. I can't think of any other reason why the animal's foot/arm would be magically transparent all of a sudden. The zebra stripes do look less defined and I can tell an ever so decrease in color like YoshiEgg25 observed on the Wii. I also see some rainbow banding as well on the Wii shot; not sure if that's just the camera or the actual video output itself.

Still not going to run out and drop $100 just yet though... I think a close up shot like the F-Zero GX ones will reveal the whole deal without any question once and for all.

Thanks CRTGAMER for the pics!

edit: Still not sure if I'm imagining all this and the color and such is a placebo effect... also if the camera took a picture combining two frames together making the arm transparent like that. Was it on pause when you took the Wii picture CRTGAMER?

edit2: on the pink animal on the left I really don't notice any difference on the face and feet. The left arm is transparent though like the zebra feet animal in the water. Not sure what can be jpeg artifacts or what is actually there in terms of color.

Don't drop a hundred smackers on this cable. I grabbed mine from someone on the boards for $45 shipped, and I'd say that anything $60 and below is worth it. If you can find a GameStop with one, you're golden though.

I certainly hope these tests are being done with Official Component cables for each console, otherwise...

Well, the GameCube doesn't even HAVE third party component cables, so at least that one is.
