Also my primary reason for switching to VGA was to be able use my monitor instead of my TV.
If strictly for a VGA monitor no. However the cable does not have an optional SVideo-Composite output like the box for regular TVs. There are a few DC games that do not work in VGA.

While a few games just won't work via VGA no matter how hard you try (including patching an ISO), most of them aren't good games. (NTSC Bangai-O and Plasma Sword being more noteworthy exceptions)

Also, certain games that need to be "tricked" by a sudden switch from analog to digital. With the box, you can have the switch set to TV-out (S-video/composite) and once you hear the DC being to boot (the console, not memory card, will have a faint beep before the laser starts seeking more aggressively), you can flip the switch to VGA to "force" the game to appear on your monitor. Evolution being an odd game that needs to be tricked despite being noted as "VGA compatible" off the box.

Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

My television says "Mode not supported" when I try to boot the Dreamcast in VGA mode.

I can run Wii games in 480p just fine. Can anyone help me?

You can hook up a laptop and set your TV to support 640x480p in this manner.

Don't have a laptop, just a desktop.

How would I go about making my television support that resolution after hooking up my PC, though?

If I recall, your TV may not be compatible with a lower signal like 480p thru the VGA connection. With a computer it may in fact catch the signal thru 720p. If that works then you can use your PC to program your TV to work with a 480p signal or some shit like that. it's a longshot, but it's one that has worked with quite a few people... as matter of fact, such experiment has been discussed in a better manner through thid thread if you look back bit.

I can't find anything about that..

The closest thing I can find is hooking up the TV to my computer and setting the PC resolution to 640x480 in hopes of that somehow fixing it, but Windows 7 doesn't even let me set it that low.
