should i get a master system or turbo grafx 16??
Re: should i get a master system or turbo grafx 16??
I voted for Master System. Mostly because I've found it more fun to collect for. I pretty much NEVER run into TG16 games, but I often happily find a small stash of SMS games in most retro game shops.
...just another lost soul...

Even then, I still strongly say the Turbo library is a lot better than the SMS. Open up imports, and the Turbo/PCE is a Ferrari while the SMS is a Ford Focus.sheath wrote:Both would be ideal, but if I had to choose between the Master System and TG16 US libraries I'd have to go with the Master System.
There are a lot more accessories you can find in your daily shopping for a Focus than a Ferrari, though. Focus's are cheaper, too.

You guys are very lucky to live in an area where you can physically find Master System games. I have to look all over the interbutts to find them...

I never owned a TG16 but I did have the SMS and I enjoyed that more since one of my friends had a TG16 and I couldn't get into other than for Splatterhouse and Bonk. Sadly my SMS died and now I play the games through emulation, along w/ TG16. I would say maybe try some of the games that way and see which console you like better? My vote goes for SMS.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Hmm, I have to shop online for either system, but yeah I can get games for an average of less than $10 on the Master System and more like $20 on the Turbo. As for which one has the better library, including CDs that would have to be the PCE if we don't consider the language barrier many of them create.Breetai wrote:Even then, I still strongly say the Turbo library is a lot better than the SMS. It's really kinda like asking which is better, NES or SNES though.

Do what REPO Man said. Buy a Power Base Converter for your Genesis and get the PC Engine.

Even if you don't include CDs, the PC Engine has a way more full library of high quality stuff. With CDs, the PC Engine rivals the SNES or Genesis/MD. Most games people want either are not hindered by language, or are actually in English. 96% of CD games are region free (only the CD version of Altered Beast and CD games requiring the Arcade System Card are not).sheath wrote:As for which one has the better library, including CDs that would have to be the PCE if we don't consider the language barrier many of them create.
OP, are you getting the hint yet? Skip the Turbografx-16 and get an imported PC Engine w/CD-ROM. Buy a Master System locally if you find one for cheap.
